USB Tethering

Hello All

I enable USB tethering on my Galaxy Note and connected the phone with my laptop but the laptop will not go on the internet. What am I doing wrong?

do u have the unloked phone
if so it should work

try take out the battery restart phone & try again
also update software on WiFi

try the program foxfi and no need to root

I believe you need Kies installed for USB tethering to work, will confirm shortly (installing it to my new Ultrabook which isn't working with tethering where my old laptop is)

EDIT: Yup, it's working now. How annoying, having to pollute my new computer with that awful software. Definitely worth looking into apps to provide the service that don't require Kies being installed (I wonder if the person above has Kies installed to their PC?).

Thanks! It is working now. I installed Kies on my laptop.

You don't actually have to install Keis. Installing Keis installs the relevant drivers. I believe you can get them separately but would have to hunt a wee bit.

Quite possibly, I couldn't be bothered however (despite how much I would like to not have Kies on my PC, will try uninstalling Kies and see if the drivers persist sometime).
