Help USB Tethering ?

So can this Evo tether to my laptop to give it internet ?

There are a number of apps out there that can do that for you -- it usually involves installing an app from the play store on your android then one on your pc as well, running them both and viola. I've used PDA Net which seems fine and also Klink, both of which you can find in the play store (though I think Boost is trying to censor some app results in the play store to prevent people from tethering, wirelessly or not -- so if you have trouble finding one let me know).

Does my phone need to be rooted to tether ?

No. It should say in the app description if it requires root, and I believe I was using klink just fine before rooting.

Root only tethering apps tend to be better since they don't use proxy servers and also tend to be free.

Yeah that's the thing about PDANet in particular, IIRC it's like 20 bucks. Not worth it IMO.
