Help Use on Boost Mobile

Definitely not illegal, just frowned on by the carriers. Obviously, they want you to buy from them.

Also, may I ask why you would want to change to boost?

GSM is different than CDMA. You can't "unlock" a CDMA device, you can unlock a GSM (sim) device.

For instance my HTC One S is GSM, and I can unlock it with a sim code, all I have to do is swap sim cards (after unlocking). That isn't possible with a CDMA device like the Evo V 4g since it doesn't use a sim card, but rather has the network info hard wired in.

You can call customer service and try to activate it, and if you try enough times, and with a little luck, you will get one who will.

Otherwise, yes, all known methods are questionable at best.
According to some state laws it is definitely illegal, and in terms of federal laws, it's sort of a gray area (I.E. how good is your lawyer and it is worth it).

Regardless, it's a gamble.
