Use wifi for voice calls?

So where I live I get almost no service. Is there any way i can call people over my wifi instead of my zero bars? I guess I could use skype but I have to pay to make phone calls instead of VoIP calls.

I looked into Google Voice but I have no clue how it works and apparently MetroPCS is incompatible with it?

Any sweet juicy tips? No not those kind, get your mind out of the gutter

I've heard of people making free calls with wifi but I don't know how.

google voice is really simple to figure out. you already have a number grom your gmail accout now you just need to go enable it. go to voice.google.com and you should be able to figure it out and after u get that set up go and download sipdroid from the market and link your gvoice to your pbxes account (at the bottom of the screen when you open sipdroid it asks you to create an account and link your gvoice) and then you can recieve calls. its really alot easyer than it sounds or than everyone makes it out to be

I use Google Voice all the time - Wifi or 4G on my Esteem.
Works just fine, it even worked great on my Optimus M.

the prob is google voice changed their app from allowing u to choose how do u want to make a call either with google voice or just ur normal phone but im one of the ones that had google voice when it came out and i have the oringinal apk file that gives me the option to call with google voice or my regular number. ill post it on her in a sec. but u need to create your free number on google voice if u havnt done so once u do that ur set, just install this apk and everytime u make a call or decide to txt some1 you will get a pop up menu that ask if u want to use google voice or not.

Do not update from this google voice version or you will lose the ability to choose how u make a call or txt!

now when u just want to use just wifi to make a call turn on wifi and select some1 to call and choose google voice and it should work fine.

I always have good service but for my friends that don't have service n use wifi to use their fone they use Viber. So I have Viber as well. Never used Google Voice tho :3 So I can't compair.
