Wow, I'm shocked this section of the forum is so quiet. Either the amount of people who wanted this phone is quite small, or maybe we're just too busy playing with it to post anything.
I'm going to give a review of mine, never having written a review before, so forgive me if I botch it up.
I walked in to the Sprint store knowing I had to wait until 12-1 for a new contract, but I just had to see if this beast would fit into my breast pocket. (it does)
I looked around the not crowded store here in Michigan and couldn't find the Max anywhere. I asked the fella there and he said, you're the first to ask and went back and opened up a box for me to look at it. This was at 4pm on release day.
I was telling him how I was thinking of getting it in 2 weeks when my contract allows and he looked it up and said I could get one now. I didn't feel like arguing with him and walked out with my new Max.
A bit of phone history for me; I started with an EVO 4G, then the EVO 3d, now this Max. So to the people who said this is "just" a huge HTC One, that didn't matter to me, since I've no experience with that phone either.
Now this phone IS huge, no doubt, but I'm having no problems handling it just fine with my short fat fingers. I didn't setup the fingerprint scanner for a long time, having read how unreliable it was in reviews. But later in the day I tried it out, and find it quite accurate for me.
The display is gorgeous, and at full brightness whites are very white. It does come with a lot of bloatware, unfortunately. I've always ignored Sprints directions app and gone with Google maps for directions, but I played a bit with the pre-installed Scout direction app, and so far, it seems good.
So I toggled my WIFI on (my charter wifi is fairly fast) and rubbed my hands together to start downloading ALL those apps from my previous phone. First? Speedtest. I downloaded it and ran it on my wifi for a baseline. (To clarify, I'm saying these results in kilobits, the smallest size, for better comparisons) My wifi was 22,000 kbps, then turned off wifi and got...32,000! kbps Well, that was a shock, on my evo 3d (with no LTE 4g) the best I'd get was 500 kbps. Yes, speed for my phones went from 500 to 32,000. Woo hoo!
Now this is at home where I have a tower in eyesight without a lot of buildings. I'm going to work in a few hours and we'll see how bad the inside of a factory is.
The other WOW factor is those speakers. After installing one of the equalizer apps (I use one called Music Volume EQ) the sound is amazing!
All of my video streaming apps run flawlessly and nearly instantly with the exception of HBO GO, it simply won't play anything with an error saying "Could not play content. Try again later" even on wifi, and my 3do played it either way. /shrug
I see NO lag at all, in switching screens, starting apps or playing intense games. After people complaining about how the processor wasn't the latest and greatest I was apprehensive, but no sluggishness anywhere that I can see.
One quirk I've come across is that since the 4G seems faster than my wifi I keep turning it off, but something somewhere turns it back on after some time...something for me to track down when I'm done drooling over this thing.
I couldn't find all those HTC widgets my other phones had, they did have some nice ones. I don't know if they are gone or buried somewhere.
I haven't had much chance to play with the camera yet, that will have to come at a later date.
Can't talk about call quality yet either.
Battery life seems to drop quickly, but I AM putting it through it's paces right now, so that assessment really isn't fair yet. On the plus side it charges up quickly. I'm not used to that.
The blinkfeed is interesting and I'm not likely to turn it off, but at first blush it's not real easy to figure out how to customize it. (from what I've read, being able to turn it off and customize it is new)
One minor annoyance is that I love changing my wallpaper a lot and to do this I have to swipe the notification bar down, click settings, click personalize and click wallpaper. I wonder if there's a widget out there that would let me pick my new wallpaper with one click? Spoiled, aren't I?

I went to my Sprint store yesterday to check out the One Max. The thing is tall! I used to think the One was somewhat disproportionate, but the One Max takes it to the next level (or at least it looks even more disproportionate because of the sheer size). I guess to fit the speakers on the ends of the screen is what helped drive the length. I wish it was not so tall, even if it meant relocating the speakers or changing the screens aspect ratio a little bit. I don't want a square device but at the same time I don't want the length to make the device look unwieldy.
I had the same experience. I had to ask for the One Max and they had to get it from the back to let me see it. They said a few people had asked about it/purchased already. I would have liked to pocket the thing or compare it to the Samsung Notes and Mega floor displays but the associate was watching me intently.

It doesn't appear that will be happening, but I hold onto a sliver of hope. HTC Singapore recently commented on BookFace that the Black One Max is coming soon to Singapore. I can only hope that it means at some point it will come to the US also. It will all depend on sales though, and the timeline of the next HTC phone releases. The One Mini (UK) recently had a black version released a little bit after the silver version too. It has sadly become HTC's M.O. to not give any choice at all or release them separately.
The floor display had a very disappointing screen. I turned off auto brightness and cranked it up, but it was still not as bright, vivid, or colorful as my Evo 4G LTE. It is strange, I've read a few differing reviews of the One Max screen, reporting different brightness levels. If they put this guy out in black soon, I'm not looking forward to spinning HTC's display quality Roulette wheel again, as it is more like a game of Russian Roulette.
I'd love to see some side by side photos if any of you guys have some time or the desire to increase the public knowledge of the One Max screen.

im simple. the 600 snapdragon is just as fine as the 800 in my world. plus i have 32gbs on board and 64 riding shotgun. lots of nice little things done to the UI that I like.

My take, the phone is awesome! Picked it up Friday at around 2:30 and got to the task of setting everything up when I had free moments to play with it. There are a few problems, I am having a hard time getting 3G or 4G, the phone keeps giving me a "network not detected" error window. I tried to go to Sprint and have a box test run but there was a 45 minute wait just to see somebody and I had my granddaughter with me, I will have to go back another time.
The other problem, it didn't want to come out of sleep mode this morning, the phone was extremely sluggish but a reboot fixed that.
The camera is not as good as my EVO 4G LTE but it is far from bad. The low light shot I took was grainy but the daylight shots were perfect, which is puzzling since that is one of the features they seem to be pushing. I will have to do more in depth testing later.
Now to the sound, it is truly impressive! I can see myself actually listening to music on this one. Everybody I have shown has been amazed at the sound quality. The in-call quality is good to but there is almost an echo on the other side of my head, can't quite figure that one out yet unless it is just passing straight through my hollow head.
As far as battery, I can't judge yet because of the time I have spent setting up and playing with it but it looks to be pretty good, I got over 11 hours of use with all the fiddling I did today. There was very little call time though, which is what I usually kill my phones with.
The fingerprint reader is pretty accurate but if you don't run your finger over exactly how you did setting it up it won't read which makes using it difficult one handed. It can be a bit frustrating when trying to pick up a call.
After I get a few days in and have a chance to really check out the device I will post more.

OK, did the OTA, I am now showing 3G sitting at my desk at home, I will have to check it out once I get on the road in a bit, I live in a very poor signal area (despite what Sprint claims).
A little update to my review:

Ok, on my old HTC phones when a call came in the answer button was on the left, NOW with the new phone, it's switched and decline is on the left. Out of habit I've declined a few calls by mistake. I simply wish I was there in that developers meeting at HTC, "Yes, we should switch the answer buttons, our long time faithfull customers will like that challenge. it's a like a mini-game!"
Well, I went to work and as I stated in another thread the speeds inside that metal factory were much improved. Old 3G speeds there were 100 to 500, when I went to work Saturday and Sunday they were 3,000 to 7,000. Yay!

We had a strong storm come through late Sunday afternoon and power went out all over the place. Now on Monday and all through the week, the 4G is HORRID. It's not only back to the slow speeds of 100 to 1,500 but most of the time speedtest and the internet simply timeout.
So I'm not sure if it's a storm knockout problem with the tower, or was it simply that on the weekend there was a lot less congestion and during the week this is what to expect. I don't know, and really, it's not a phone issue, it's a Sprint issue.
Well, there was an update for HBO Go this morning and the only new features pointed out was that it was updated for Chromecast, but what do you know, now it works on my Max flawlessly too.
The battery is pretty good, I played with my phone nearly all day yesterday and came home with a 37% charge.

After having the One Max for a little over a week here are my thoughts on the device.
On Edit: I deliberately left the camera out of this review, I am planning an in-depth review of it's performance after having a while longer to play around with it and it will likely be longer than this one.
Overall this a great device that is solidly built, performs well and feels good in the hand (at least in my sasquatch size mitts) but has a few problems, some of which I think are Sprint issues, I will start with the pros first.
The screen is the first thing you notice (OK, the massive size is number one, but the screen is a close second) and it does its job beautifully. There is plenty of real estate to work with, you can fit so many apps on a single screen it is good they offered the ability to add or subtract home pages, you won't need as many as normal. Of course this means the screen is plenty large enough to watch videos without overly straining your eyes.
The next truly standout aspect of the One Max is the unbelievable sound quality and volume, this is the first time I have ever considered a phone for listening to music or videos without headphones. If you have not had a chance to hear one you are in for a big surprise!
The call quality is also very good, better than my EVO 4G LTE in my opinion. I also have good reports as to the quality on the other end of the call as well. The outstanding speakers make for a very pleasing speakerphone experience, something most phones I have had fall short on.
The battery is a pleasant surprise, making it through a full 12 hour day without having to be charged. I am getting on average about 14-16 hours before time to plug back in. This may not jive with most peoples results, my phone is my mobile office checking two email accounts every 15 minutes during peak hours, sending and receiving large attachments, Gmail, sms, mms, a more than normal amount of phone calls, syncing with G+, Tapatalk, Weather, Flickr and a small selection of games I play with my wife and a few friends.
Now for the cons, be they Sprint or device related.
The biggest problem have with this device is the internet, 3G is pitiful and 4G is spotty at best but as said earlier these are more than likely Sprint issues. It has been mentioned elsewhere that some of the tri-band phones are having compatibility issue with the towers and my experience improved somewhat after applying the OTA that was available on day one.
This does not address the WiFi issue I am experiencing however. I find that after being connected for an extended period (4+ hours) it just stops working so I have to turn off the WiFi connection and turn it back on to continue accessing the internet. At first I thought it might be my router at home but this happens elsewhere as well.
I sometimes have to reboot the device when I wake up in the morning, it seems like it does not want to fully come out of sleep mode. Apps will act very sluggish if responding at all but once rebooted everything seems to work fine.
Another issue I have noticed is a stutter in the screen in a few apps, I have not tracked the when or which yet, I will start logging this info as the week progresses to try and find a common thread.
My next step is a trip to a Sprint service center to have a box test run to see if there are any issues with the hardware, and if not I hope the problems will be addressed in the next update. As things develop I will update my findings.

I retired my HTC Rezound for an HTC One Max with Verizon on 11/22/2013. It is amazing! Battery life is so much better the the Rezound with the extended battery. I do not think I will need the Power Flip Case when it becomes available. I have an Otter box Commuter case on it now. I picked it up at Sprint. I could not find a dock yet. I am using my old custom metal Incredible stand. I filed out the ends of the channel to accomadate the wider phone.

I found an Australian seller with the One Max Black, or at least a listing for it. Who knows, they might source it from Singapore as they are located in roughly the same geographic region?

I picked up a Note 3 and a One Max. I felt if was going the two year route. I needed to make a informed decision and go with what works. Orginally the Note 3 was for the wifie for work and One Max was for me because I mainly watch vids and the other usual stuff we do with our phones. After two weeks of usage and seeing what felt best. I came to the conclusion hands down the One Max. Granted its not the spec beast of the Note 3. The One Max was on par with every stress test I could throw at both. The clincher was in hand feel, One Max feels like a solid piece of kit. Everything about the Note 3 felt if I was not extra careful could get damaged. The extra screen real estate, boom sound front firing speakers, tad better batt life, and premium feel sealed the deal. I will miss be able to talk and surf over 4g, but at least I am future proof when Sprint Spark comes online with tri-band LTE radio's on board. Last thing, The One Max though larger in size was much more pocketable in my jeans. I felt the corners of the Note 3 while not so much of the One Max. One Max also was easier to remove or stow in my pocket then Note 3. I'll post a vid with LTE speed test. App wise was dead heat between the two, but Note 3 as we know did lag (internally was hoping it wouldn't) on web pages. Note3 only got worse as I began installing apps. The wife said as soon as she saw the One Max she liked it better the Note3 and she is not a tech, just a gut response. Needless to Note 3 goes back and a second One Max comes home for the wife.

Agree 100%; if you are the type of person who gets hung up on specs, then go get your plastic, LOCKED DOWN 100% note 3...
I love this phone, and the rest of my family got rid of their note 2's for the htc one..Sense blows away touch wiz, and the ui on both the one and the one max are smooth, fast, stutter free, and the phones just feel like a high quality piece of electronics, not a creaky, plastic box as the samsungs always did..
Many reasons why a forum is more quiet than another, but nothing to me "amazed" about.
there are many new devices out. the htc one is still dominating phone sales. some people may not want a large screen phablet type device. there are lots of people around the country who have no doubt purchased this device but dont need to come to a forum to talk about it. happens all the time.
there may be more folks to come on board after santa brings them some gifts, and as peoples' contracts expire, etc. more will come on board. but by then the htc M8 may be coming out..
i absolutely love the one max--its everything the htc one should have been, so by all means you are not alone.

I love it. its everything the one should have been.
im simple. the 600 snapdragon is just as fine as the 800 in my world. plus i have 32gbs on board and 64 riding shotgun. lots of nice little things done to the UI that I like.
Well,t the note 3 and other phones are out so its no wonder this forum is quiet. plus many early adopters are probably more focused on the ps4 and xbox launch as well. i was all set to get the ps4--had a preorder and everything--but once i saw this was definitely coming to sprint i switched gears, saved up those ps4 pennies and poured them all over the sprint table.
so many things going on right now so the love is spreading around..
in time this place will be bustling with folk. until then, I will LOVEEEEEEEEEE the heck out of this device.

I'm a new guy here..
I'm having camera purple tint issue with my HTC One & this made me thinking to upgrade to One Max..
But i heard many of the One Mini users are complaining that the plastic band cracked after some time of use..
Since One Max also using the same plastic band, did any of you guys notice crack on your One Max?

i have had the one max since launch day and no physical issues whatsoever. when i had the htc one (launch day) i had no issues with it either.
Also no issues with the phone at all.

Sorry you had some issues. I have had zero issues with the One Max, and from what I hear the One was one of the best built phones of all time. You consider just getting a warranty replacement?
