I wasn't sure where to ask this, so here goes.

I can't access my user cp here on the forums.
Whenever I try to access it, I go to the profile of "Infinity" (Note that my forum name is "~Infinity")

Maybe something that needs to be fixed..? :s
 
Yea there was another user not so long ago with the same issue. Phases can remove the ~ from your username as per Friscos link.

Yikes! So anyone can hack into another persons Account/CP by creating a user name beginning with ~?
 
I can't just remove the ~, since there is another Infinity user, but yes it would be changed to something without special characters. You know, InfinityX or something...

Would you like to change it to something else?
 
Meh, change it to Infinifail then :p

Also, I too wondered if people with similiar characters in the beginning of the name form a security risk.
 
Done. Not a security risk, its just the way our simple URL plugin interprets special characters for what users see on the front end of the site, in the URL itself. Which then alters what profile is pulled.

It drives me bonkers.

With security risk I meant, what if i would make an account named ~Phases.

I would have access to your userCP, right?
(Not that I can do the whole forum any harm from there, just you :p)
 
The tilde ( ~ ) is a common administrative symbol, used all over the web, and in games, to remotely access, or manually access, a part or whole of a forum or game's features (or code for forums). It works differently wherever it's used, but generally the idea is to be able to do a bypass to access something.

I could go into so much more detail, but I'll spare you the boredom, lol.
 
Can't access my 'User CP' :( When I select on the link, I get directed to the AF's login page. Been trying to access it for the past hour and no luck. I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue as well?

I do.. I've been locked out of my user cp for two days at least.
