Using adfree...

Does using this cause more harm than good (battery wise) since the ads are always trying to load? Isn't that just like the phone searching for 3g when there isn't a signal?

Also, is it a good idea to download adw from the market if I'm running cm6? I figure I can't get updates from adw if it's not actually on my list.

I have never tried ad free but I believe that aosp has his rom set up to be ad free, just fyi!

I've tried aosp. I really like it and its very fast. My problem was the lack of memory and all the perks I lost when using cm6. And with my current setup my cm6 phone seems just as fast as aosp. I want to try the fire rat mod but I've never used adb and am a little scared.

I use adfree, but I don't think it would help out much except for programs that use ads, or when browsing, and I doubt that would be a noticeable battery drain. Personally, I love it for time saved.
