Root Using DTM OC kernel with Warp Sequent Jelly Bean update?

I decided to try and see if it works, but i figured i should first find out if anyone else has tested the combo. So will it work, or is the oc kernel specific to ics builds?
 
I read about the mem leak... did the oc kernel always have it? I was using dtm kernel 3.0 until yesterday, and never noticed any issues myself. I guess its a moot point anyhow since the b11 jb update probably isnt set up for overclocking yet. I really only skimmed through the update thread since ive flashed plenty of phones and am now familiar with the installation process.
 
Word round the root forum is that a new kernel for the JB update is in the works but no idea when it will be ready
 
one can only hope :) but unfortunately my guess is the original source code needs to be fixed as zte has a tendency to , bork things, before releasing it.
 
What was it like a week and they already had the ota fixed and rooted as a cwm flashable installer? I know its comparing apples and oranges... but i have faith in the developers. Its going to happen before we ever expect it.

I bought my phone on June 10th and flashed awesome into it the next day.

Then i kinda missed out on the new ZTE update release because i wasnt on the forum, just enjoying my new phone.

Two days ago i checked the forums, and bam! NEW UPDATE!!!

I fn love this website dude. Plus it doesnt hurt to keep buying cheap phones before i even know if they have 'aftermarket' support. Just keep getting lucky!
 
The old dtm kernel should technically work though the ramdisk may give you a small problem or two. The msin issue being its based off of the original broken zte kernel so it will slow your phone down...

Actually I tried that and i did not boot... used the b11 ramdisk and serenity kernel... just had a black screen after the boot splash... Is it possible the new kernel source is for JB.. how does that work exactly?
 
The new source is for jb. There is likely stuff missing in the ICS source that jb needs.

So the old kernel will not work with the update

So then both kernel sources could be broken then... speaking of which the whole issue with the pmem sounds too familiar...You and Dm47021 had a very similar issue building the jb kernel for the N860 where it wasn't calling one of the banks...
 
Yes, we couldn't use the same fix hroark found for the 2.6 kernel. The sequent uses a different type of memory, so that issue is non existent.
Honestly if someone took the my commits from the 3.0.8 kernel on my github and dropped them into the 3.4 , in theory it should work for jb. As long as it is a working source
