Help Using Navigation. I'm new to this phone...

DMGO

Newbie
What is the quickest, most simple way to start navigation using this phone? On my old Optimus V, I just touched the Navigation icon, and entered my destination address, and Navigation began. But not on this phone...I touch Maps, and then what? Thanks, I'm an old guy.

Type your destination in the search bar, wait until Maps found it, tap on the blue car icon on the lower right corner, a tap on one of the suggested routes will show the route on the map, tap on the blue navigation icon on the lower right corner ...

The new maps versions did away with the navigation icon. To navigate try the following. This is using the newest version of maps.

Open maps

Enter you search into the search box at top

After your search you will see a banner at bottom of screen, click the little car icon

On the next page you'll see starting location and destination, below that an options button, and then one or more routes with driving time and major roads.

Click the route of your choosing and navigation should start

Quickest way: Tap your search widget or search app icon, give it a sec to load, then say "google" pause for it to recognize, then say "Navigate to <destination here>", then press the navigate icon. ;)

Owning an underappreciated and overspecced phone will do that to a community.

What's strange, I do have the icon still, and it works. Must be due to the maze of an update process I followed ;)

Note- I may have restored it with TitaniumBackup during a batch restore.

One of the more helpful forums I have ever encountered!!!

The Optimus V was my first smart phone and was a great phone, the only exception was a small screen.

The Navigation with Google Maps has saved my bacon more than a few times. This coming from a guy who used to deliver for Airborne Express. I used to pride myself on not needing a map, but I'm getting OLD :smokingsomb:
