Help V randomly shuts off

In the 8 months that I've had this phone it has shut off randomly 3 times (fully charged, not that many programs were running to make it crash, etc...). The only way to turn it on again is to take the battery out, put it back in and turn on the phone. I haven't abused it really (it has kamikazed itself to the floor on occasion). Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything that can be done to prevent it?

Not sure what could be wrong, but one thing that will cause your phone to shut itself off is if the battery is overheating. Shutting itself off is a way for it to protect itself, so preventing auto shutdowns without first finding the cause and trying to fix it would not be my recommendation.

How often is it shutting itself off? Have you tried uninstalling all apps to ensure one of them is not causing the issue? Have you tried a new battery? What steps have you taken to try and troubleshoot the problem?

Maybe it's a RAM issue? When I run alot of apps and stuff one after another or don't close out of them properly I've had my phone lag/lock up/shut off completely a few times.
Check it under settings> applications> manage applications then click the "running" tab. you can see how much ram is used/free at the very bottom of that screen.
You can also stop processes that are taking up lots of ram from there. I usually only do ones I know are safe to stop like Facebook, etc.
I don't know if that'll help, but it seems to work for me

You could try the old battery trick. Pull the battery, and hold the power button for thirty seconds. Then power back up and try again.

should I thread jack or start a new one?

Mine has rebooted itselfs a few times since new.

Then most likely it's a memory issue, or a poorly written app. Possibly even a hardware problem, but when trouble shooting you always start with the simplest issue and work up from there.

As long as you stay on topic and don't deliberately derail a thread your ok. I think we've all accidentally derailed a thread, that can be overlooked.

Musiciansapp I have had this issue with my Lg Optimus V phone just shutting off. Since you have Virgin Mobile you can call and complain and they will send you a new one for free. I wish their was something you could do about it but you can't as far as I know.
