Root v1.1 up for testing ***Umph Kernelv1 Now With Oddball***

ok just a quick question... what if you open the init.qcom.post_boot.sh file in text editor and edit the cpu governor settings from "ondemand" to whatever you would like and also the min_freq code from 245760 down to 122 and do a phone reset..... i mean im sitting here going through all the lines in that file and it seems like that would just be easy.

right but before your system gets to that point, it will be at 245/1900 which is why some phones wont boot with it, i highly recommend using the oddball version :) as that issue is fixed :)

I don't think you understand the point of the fix. The fix happens AT boot, not when it gets to the ROM. It's found in the init.*.rc.

You even commented this:

i know with other kernels they usually boot up at stock speeds with the option to be tweaked once booted. im wondering if a feature like that is currently implemented?

This is my suggestion to implement that. My OC kernel on CM7 doesn't start at 1.9.

just wondering if this kernel supports loop booting? might be saying that wrong but trying to install ubuntu on my triumph via this tutorial ... How to Install Ubuntu on Android! | Android+Linux=AndroLinux and it says i need loop booting kernel? tried via "linux installer" on the market as well but just get an error creating loop after it spits errors about me not having a bunch of commands and the cpu architecture being wrong. any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks guys

Edit: kinda new here, really not trying to spam thats just the tutorial i was trying to use. Thanks!

It apparently does, Ubuntu works on mine.

Just did a before and after antutu benchmark:
Code:
285 559
646 1219
284 537
339 547
698 575 <-- 3d graphics
245 145 <-- database i/o
111 55 <-- sd card write
117 120
2725 3757
sdtools:
before: 15.4 write, 17.7 read
after: 10.2 write, 20.2 read

tried again today and everything seems ok. set to performance 1900/1900 just in case. 4324 overall score

I hope you guys forgive me for sounding like a noob.
but what is an oddball phone? and how do i know if i have one?
thanks brahhhs.

u should just use the oddball version, we found out that the umphv1 boots at 1900mhz which is why it wouldnt boot on some phones, when v2 hits itl just be one version to clear up confusion, oh and btw, v2 is in the works :p. i had a v2 before and it was giving a wifi error and i had not a clue what was causing it and i changed alot and i dont have this phone to debug with and i got frustrated and i needed a break, but v2 is in the works, i dont have an ETA yet as i have alot going on atm but im trying to get some done on it everyday, might release whats done so far tomarrow if ive got time. working on performance right now i havent gotten to features like govs and schedulers yet so dont expect a bunch of new options to play with, might throw smartassv2, lagfree, or greaselightning in there just to have something to show tho

This! Also 1.1 did not work for me. It would stay at the Motorola logo.

I can look into that, and alright, time to start reverting changes to see what it was, glad I only did a handful of things lol my guess is its the SLQB, only thing dramatic I changed in 1.1. Could've been changes I made in the .config tho. Gunna revert all the .config then add em back section by section and see if that's it.

yea it includes all the default govs, wasnt listed because all kernels unless you remove them have conservative, interactive, ondemand, performance, and powersave. the ones listed are just extra ones i added.

and for all those testing heres 2 tests trying to figure out why it wont boot, and i think this is it cuz im pretty sure it was an issue i had with v1

Umph-Kernelv1.1_test3.zip

first link is oddballs config, if it boots then yay its the config and not something else, if the 2nd doesnt boot which im doubting it will cuz i think thats where the problem is then i know what the problem is. if neither boot then frowny face.

I'll test then when I get out of work.

I saw the question asked previously, but unclear on the definite answer.
Does this kernel support MSS clamping?

Thanks in advance.

theres gunna be like 3 or 4 more, trying to find what i can and cant do in the config
if 4 doesnt boot then these WONT so dont bother if it doesnt, if it does then please see if they boot, trying out a few things in kernel features so idk if theyl boot but if they do hell yeaa lol
