Root v1.1 up for testing ***Umph Kernelv1 Now With Oddball***

im dont wanna do all the tweaks at once and it not work and have to go through a huge process of finding what it is, what im gunna do is post up a kernel for ever section of the .config i change so if something doesnt work i know where it is and can easily change it back so stay tuned

in the meantime while this is compiling and we're going through this process, anyone wanna help me think of a name for this kernel? twisted is just what i put before all the stuff i make and this is my first piece thats actually mine and not based off of someone elses work and i think that deserves a name of its own :p
im just gunna keep editing this post cuz theres no need to keep making new posts for the like 5 inc versions

lol i was thinking about something that had to do with triumph, was thinking "umph! kernel" u know that saying the difference between try and triumph is a little umph? :p
 
Tobenamed Test 1 booted successfully

EDIT: Hmmm my wifi stopped working! I`m going to reboot to make sure it`s not a glitch of this session.
 
TESTING NOTE: It appears wifi bombed in the newest test (the tobenamed test 1) it works again under the previous Twisted test 11. I`m going to flash test 1 again to be sure

Update: Yup tobenamed test 1 borks wifi on my phone until I go back to Twisted test 11. verified over several flashes back and forth.
 
tobenamed2 is booting, but wifi is not working. Wi-Fi settings says 'Error'

try using root explorer or adb and putting that in /system/lib/modules and see if that fixes wifi
and ziggy its just things in the config like memory splitting, high mem support, cpu idle PM support

Doesn't seem to do the trick on TBN2.
 
just redid everything from a clean stock unzip of the source, sometimes files get corrupted, only thing i could think of doing because nothing i changed in TBN1 had anything to do with wifi, was just the general section, this will be the last test if it boots and wifi works, Tobenamed-Kernel_test3.zip

ok so narrowed it down to the file system and kernel hacking section this version has the default filesystem settings if it boots thats what the problem is, from there i wanna see if its me trying to get it to use ext4 or if its turning off the misc file system y2affs. if it doesnt boot that means its the kernel hacking section and that shouldnt be to hard to fix Tobenamed-Kernel_test4.zip

you use linux for kernels, im using ubuntu 11.04. Building Kernel from source - CyanogenMod Wiki heres a good guide to get started with, just skip like the first 1/2 and download ur kernel source from whereever its hosted, extract and rename the folder, and in the guide instead of cm-kernel use whatever ur folders name is
