Root v1.1 up for testing ***Umph Kernelv1 Now With Oddball***

Hi all.. extremely new here and new to android. I'm currently using oddball kernel (thanks btw!) But for some reason my battery uptime stats keep resetting after some time. I've left my triumph on overnight and checked the battery usage this morning and it was correct (6-8 hours or so). Now I'm at work and it's showing 1h 18m 13s since unplugged. I've never plugged it in since nor have I rebooted the phone. Is anyone else seeing this issue using the Umph kernel Oddball or the normal one? Here's to wishing that it isn't a user error. :p

It may have rebooted on its own if you oc'd too high. That'd be my guess if you're set over 1.6.

ok so I was on version 4 but it was issacs version. I dont know if maybe there was something up with his version because it has been taken down. I installed the other version of cwm4 and installed Umphv1 and so far so good!!

I installed Umph v1 yesterday, set max to 1516 and min to 245 via SetCPU, everything is running great.

Thank you to those who made this possible.

Yay! Quadrant score 2316
Clocked at 1900

Hi Oldpot you may have one of the oddball phones, so you may need to try and re flash to that Kernel it's on the first page. If that gets it up and running you may also take a look at post #322.

Thanks for the kernel. It boosted my antutu score by 1000 with 1.5ghz clock speed. The most noticeable difference is the speed in which the market loads. I tried antutu with 1.9ghz, but it rebooted mid-test. Videos are choppy with anything but stock clock speed, however. Overall, I'm happy with it. Thanks!oh

ty all for help,
i tried the odd ball one and it worked got it to 1.5 but could not get it any higher what ever way i tried and got quad to 2150 to 2200 how do others get it to 1.7-1.9 ???

still 1.5 good so far

I cant get mine past 1.5 either without it rebooting but its fast enough there anyway. I got a quadrant score of about 2340 on my phone.

I was able to set any speed up to 1.9 without any problems though I was using v1, no oddball versions

Hm, it seems only people on the normal, not oddball, can OC over 1.5 ghz without restarts. What exactly is the difference between the two? Is it a hardware difference?

Any news on a updated version coming out btw? :P

its not the kernel difference, the change between the two is just setting a default cpu freq. and im working on v2 right now its in testing

I have a thread on this, but I thought it would be appropriate to move it here.
A couple days ago my phone heated up really bad and the battery drained visibly. I checked setcpu, and it was stuck at my max clock (1.7, gov Scary) I killed all my apps, didnt change. rebooted, didnt change. I uninstalled setcpu and installed nofrills, checked the freq in system panel, and it had unstuck. I thought that fixed it, but it stuck again with nofrills (122-17, scary) this time a reboot fixed it, but it did it again later.
I am on stock with umph kernel, no other mods.

Try a clean install. Restore the stock nandroid then load the umph kernel.

The stock nandroid from the forums has a lot of problems, it has the screen flicker issue, etc. I factory reset and reinstalled th stock kernel and it didn't change anything. Still gets stuck, just to 1ghz instead since its not overclocked.

also, go into system/ect (in root explorer) and remove the file called "init.qcom.post.boot.sh" then reboot. frequencies and govoners will stick afterwards

ithink i might have an idea of whats wrong. it seems the kernel by default dials the CPU up to 1.9ghz. atleast thats what i was finding when building a custom a rom (the stock deodex'ed with the 1% battery and reboot options and a couple other tweaks) i installed set CPU with out rooting and it saw the CPU dialed up to 1900mhz on demand. if weaker phones are booting at 1900mhz that would explain the issues people are having. i know with other kernels they usually boot up at stock speeds with the option to be tweaked once booted. im wondering if a feature like that is currently implemented?

I can confirm this... just installed the non-oddball version on a clean phone. First thing I did is run Quadrant and it kept locking up or rebooting the phone. After some investigation I discovered the max cpu was set to 1.9ghz... YIKES!
