Root V6 stock nandroid - pre-rooted

Neph81

Android Expert
I had intended on waiting until the file fully uploaded before posting this, but it will not finish until I am at work. So, here it is:

http://androidfiles.massivefilehost.com/v6_stock_rooted/V6_stock_rooted.zip

The final size you get should be 770,798,427. Same instructions as any of my other nandroid posts, except that this is pre-rooted for your convenience.

File should now be complete. I had to do a resume, which I hate doing, so I'm not sure if the archive will open correctly. I am starting a new upload just in case. Once someone downloads this, please let me know if it opens correctly.

Is this a nandroid or a flashable backup? Dumping a nan into the SD card never works because of MD5 mismatches.

i extracted it just fine.. wiped data/cache flashed v6 backup... it shows the lg logo then goes black.. and loops....

*** just realized the filesize didnt match what you said..
every time i try to download it it comes out 735mb

Well that is definitely odd. I'll try restoring this and see if I loop as well.

the update downloaded on my computer... so now im restoring to v4 and stock so i can take the update... and root from there.....

but im looking forward to this working... nandroids make life so much easier

now my v4 nandroid is bootlooping... looks like i need to start completely fresh through download mode

I restored with the V6 nandroid just fine, but that does not mean that there is not an underlying issue that I may not be aware of. I'll need to wait to see what other people run into when using the V6 nandroid.

yesterday i did try flashing a couple things that i dont think were meant for my phone (my dumbass decision) so that may be my issues because brokenout is the only thing my phone will take...

Since when have people had a MD5 mismatch? Many people have used my V4 nandroid without issues.

I asked, because taking a nandroid from an old sd card, even if made on the same phone, gave a md5 error. When I had to swap sd cards, I had mass problems with the mismatch error. Hence the question.

I just downloaded and am having the MD5 mismatch error.

*EDIT*
I found out I had the files nested inside another folder, thus causing the MD5 mismatch. Put them into the correct folder and is currently restoring.

I unzipped the file in the "backup" folder for CWM. As ox45 mentioned, the folder was then nested within a duplicate folder so I deleted it such that the "V6_stock_rooted" Folder in "clockwordmod\backup" opens up directly into the 7 files (".android_secure.vfat.tar", "boot.img," etc.). But I'm still getting the MD5 mismatch error as well. I'm probably unnecessarily detailed here, but I am not knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff; I just follow explicit directions exceptionally well. :)

By the way, thanks, Neph81, for starting this for us lazy Susans who don't want to use the horribly long and complicated OneClick solution. :o

+1 on that... updating to v6 with the cab file was a long process... adding cwm and root will add more to it(im too lazy havent done it yet)

but so far v6 is extremely smooth.. alot better for me than v4 and v5beta... i cant wait for it to be deodexed and cleaned up some....

Just making sure I have this correct. You have the 7 files extracted so it looks something like /clockworkmod/backup/V6_stock_rooted/boot.img ?

That definitely sounds like the SD card was dieing then. MD5 is used because of the fact that you can 100% verify the file was downloaded bit for bit correctly (see any linux .iso file you would download) .

I might agree with you, but the same thing happened when I transferred some backups from one perfectly good 8gb SD card to another 16gb one. So unless data was lost in the transfer, which doesn't seem likely, since no other files were corrupted, there was another issue related to the nands.

In any event, if people say this works, then it must, so I'll give it a go. Quite frankly, if the LG version of Android doesn't get its shit together and stop with these random reboots when apps do various things (like simple shit, like selecting a city for weather in MyClock), I'm going to ditch it and get a more reliable phone. Either the hardware, software (libs) or themed Android is not processing Java correctly to allow apps to function as they would on other phones. I can only hope v6 and/or future releases resolve some of these problems.

Be thankful you don't have an optimus, seems like every app has a note in the description that it won't work on that model.

Precisely. I can try it again tomorrow morning after I wipe everything a second time. Will update soon.

Any reason the firmware version shows vs920zv3?
Android system image is 2.3.6.
BrokenOut is vs920zv4, I thought.

Any way I followed instructions and all went well.
Thanks for the taste.
Can we follow the list of things to freeze that is already posted, or is there more?

Sounds like the kernel aka boot.img did not flash properly. I would attempt to do an advanced restore and just restore the boot image and let us know what happens. If it still shows as V3 and other people have this issue, then I will redo the nandroid.

After the advanced restore:
Android version 2.3.6
Baseband VS920ZV3-M8660A-AABQNSZM-3.1.61024FT
Kernel 2.6.35.11-perf+lge@android-build # 1
Build number GRK39F
SW version VS920ZV3

Should I bother a reflash of the nandroid just the way I followed the instructions for the V5?

I looked at the V4 instructions, but there was something regarding a restore file. Was I supposed to use that file?

EDIT:
Has any one else gotten this version to flash?

EDIT2:
Did the complete reflash and same results.
So is this still the V6 ROM with just the kernel mismatch, or is this a V3 ROM?
