Root Vanilla Android for 2.3.3?

Adroid fans,

Well, I finally got a HTC Evo 4G with Sprint and so far I love it. The speeds are great!

Today I was chatting with a Nexus S owner who told me that vanilla android is the way to go. So, I want to install vanilla android (or an alternative) that eliminates Sprint's bloatware and allows rooted apps.

Please tell me what I should do. I updated OTA to 2.3.3.

The only way that is going to happen for you on the EVO is to root and load a custom rom, I am moving this thread there so you can get some better advice.

so are you rooted? if you accepted the ota then you will have to wait for a new exploit.

Nope. I'm not rooted and I got the OTA update. Any idea when the exploit will be released?

unfortunately, no. all i know is that the devs are working on it. i believe that the last ota the evo had, it took the unrevoked team about a month or so to find a new exploit. so it could be any time now, hopefully. just stay tuned here. we will post it when one is found.
