Root Vanilla Froyo ROM Released

LOL! Hear that!
The only thing I have noticed with this rom, and perhaps its not even this rom causing it, but whenever I download something (mp3, ringtone, wallpaper, whatever) I have to restart the phone before it appears in my SD card. Anyone else have this issue?
I don't even care so much, cause to me, this rom is killer. Just wondered if I am the only one having this happen.

I'm not having this issue. may not be the phone.

System and data backups should just be common sense haha. I make two to three a week, plus my fresh rooted one. (yes, I delete them as I make new ones)

anyone wanna tell me a step by step process to installing the platinum theme for the vanilla 2.2?

I don't know if you have the ROM already installed, but if you don't you can use the same steps to install it. You'll want to make a backup because a ROM wipes everything.

Step 1: Download the theme and place it in sdx/zip
Step 2: Go into Custom Recovery
Step 3: Clear Dalvik Cache
Step 4: Go to apply zip
Step 5: Select the theme. Hit menu then home.

Quick question for the more knowledgeable.

I am currently running on this Vanilla Froyo ROM and on Vamp's 2.0.8 kernel. Can I just place the new 2.0.8.1 kernel in my SDX/Zip folder and apply it or do I have to do the whole process again?

Lemme say real quick, I flashed the 2.2 Vanilla ROM on my fathers phone this afternoon and wasn't overall impressed with the look and didn't want to flash a theme. Ill be waiting Ubuntroid.

Neither. If you don't have them already, make a folder on the root of your SD card called sdx. Inside that folder make three folders called zip, updates, and backup. You put the .zips into the sdx/zip folder. Then turn your phone off and hold down the volume down, voice, and power buttons. Let go as soon as the screen turns on. This will bring you into custom recovery. Use the volume keys to scroll to Advanced options and hit the menu soft key. Clear the dalvik cache (menu then home to confirm). Go back (back key) and go to apply zip from sd card. Scroll down to the ROM and hit the menu key then home to confirm.

This will wipe all of your data by the way. It's a ROM.

If you don't clear the cache...... In some cases if you're very unlucky it can mess up your phone. Brick it? I don't think so. But if you forgot to clear it then just clear it when it's done flashing before you reboot your phone. Maybe reflash it if you really want to although you should be fine. It shouldn't take extremely long, maybe 5-10 minutes max to flash.

Noob here. Never rooted. Like the sound of the feedback from this. I wanna try it. My Transform never "Transformed" from the junk I bought it as. Help/guide??!? Thank you in advance...

I've made guides for just about everything about the Transform except the Vanilla 2.2 ROM which I'm not very impressed with. Heh. Anyway, here's all my guides, just select the one your looking for.

If it's an old thread you question PM me, no 1 month bumps or gravedigs please.

what data does it wipe? when i applied the pumav2 today it didnt wipe anything (that i have noticed). why is vanilla different?

Kernel's just make the phone run differently and usually in a better way. Meanwhile ROMs totally take over the system folder and re-write all the system files and data. By doing this, a ROM forces someone to wipe their phone.

I am being dense apparently, no worries, i can re-download apps. I have downloaded vanillia, but have not done anything with it yet. These are the steps as I understood them:

1. put vanillia zip in zip folder (sdx -> zip)
2. clean out some davlek cache
3. from the custom recovery as it to load the vanilla zip

are these steps correct?

Also, I have been trying to back things up with titanium, but mostly it just sits on the asking for root permission screen. when i do finally get in (every third or forth try usually) i ask it to make a back up copy of things one at a time. sometimes it makes a backup but stays on a spinning (working?) wheel and i cannot do another. so i kill the program and try again. have not even come close to getting stuff backed up.

Titanium Backup Pro is the best investment you can ever make for an app. Trust me, get pro. Your steps are correct, and yes without pro, you save, and download apps, one at a time. It's so tedious. That's why you need pro.

Yes that happens to me ALOT, its really annoying but i dont know of any fix to the problem other than killing the app and retrying
