Root Velocity 1.2.2 OPEN Beta

So glad to see devs still at it. Thank you savoxis.

I'll flash beta 18 (along with that new Amon_Ra) tonight after work. Looking forward to a fresh Rom to go with the new digitizer I just installed. I just love that the android dev community helps not only make the best of the hardware we buy, but allows to us to extend the lifecycle, and keep it in use longer, out of the landfills. Gosh I'd love to learn how to do it.

1.2.2 Stable release = beer money donation from me.

I have 2 lg ally....if ya dev need one I can ship it to you.......only problem is that the lcd screen doesn't work...you can buy the lcd screen with the touch digitizer for like 34-36 bucks....only thing don't want to do is pay shipping...so if you want it message me

ICS launcher FCs literally every other time I try to go to the homescreen regardless of whether I am using the return button or the home button. Could it be from the default overclocking that this release has? I've had this phone for years (thanks in large part to you guys ;)), so it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that my hardware is dying.

Here's what happens:

1. Start in an app (browser, for example)

2. Click home or back out via return button

3. ICS Launcher has stopped responding. Force close.

4. I am back to the homepage in browser (if no other application is open, the phone menu will display)

5. Click home or back out via return button

6. I am at the homescreen, launcher is displaying everything properly, I can swipe between desktop segments and all the icons are there, etc.

7. Click on an app

8. App works

9. Click home

10. ICS Launcher dies. Force close it. Go to step 4. Repeat ad nauseum

Anyway, I hope this is somehow helpful. I'll just be going back to 1.2.1 for now :D

This isnt the hardware at all bud. Its the launcher just download adw launcher instead. It wont FC

Two weeks ago, I flashed the Beta 18 ROM onto my Ally, previously having Velocity 1.2.1 on it. Aside from the screen transitions and scrolling being noticeably smoother as well as the appearance being more clean and user friendly which has been noted over and again, I wanted to offer an observation on the known issue of the ICS Launcher FCing; the only time it FCs on my Ally is when I slide open the keyboard with system in standby. However, if I press the power button and unlock the phone with the screen gesture then slide the keyboard open, the ICS Launcher remains stable.

Apart from that, there seem to be no other issues. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work!

Just pulled out my Ally and decided to bring it back to life. Came on to see if anything new has come to this phone and was surprised. Nice to see people are still developing stuff for this phone. Currently flashing Beta 18. Much appreciated Savoxis

How do u change the icons? There normal 2.3 icons with colored differently, i cant change the icons without changing the launcher ...

You can change the theme and it'll contain new icons. Try ADW Launcher or GO Launcher EX (personal preference is ADW) with the ICS theme.

Otherwise, I'd suggest heading over to the UOT Kitchen and cook up a new theme with the icons you want, then flash it in recovery.

Thank you Savoxis so much! My phone was malfunctioning on both Velocity 1.2.1 and Bionix, I was about to turn to StormDroid when I decided to try this and it did the trick! Now it runs smoothly as butter! X)

I used beta 18 for a day and started having messenger text sending issues, did a clean install and didn't restore any data.

I have the same issues. I also have an issue with the phone not wanting to hangup by the soft or hard key.

I've installed Velocity 1.2.2 beta 18 and a big bug that I've found today is in GPS. It's currently listing me at 0 degrees 0.002' N and 4095 degrees 13.066' E which when I pull up maps is located near the equator just off the West African coast (I'm located in middle Ga, Macon area to be exact). I'm not sure if it's rom related but it seems it's not passing the data correctly, I was thinking it had a couple of the variables backwards but that's not it. Could you look into this? I use my phone A lot in Geo Caching and use the Safe Neighborhood (sex offenders look up, yeah I got young kids). Haven't noticed any others yet, but will let you know if I do....

LOL yeah my Google Navigation and Maps thinks I am in North Carolina when i am up in Northwest PA.

Seems like the Ally finally died after a long 2-year run filled with complaints about lagginess, low memory, and constant problems. But we still have a few that are alive and kicking (As mine currently still is).

Just putting this out there for those photo freaks who wanna also have the ICS experience. There's a free app on the Market called Camera ICS that has basically most of the features of the ICS camera, but optimized for other phones. I don't think it's meant to replace the main camera app, though, but for those who want an ICS experience when taking pics too, give it a try. It also matches the ICS them in this version of Velocity, too :3

Mine's still rocking along too. I must have gotten one of the good ones.

Just updated my Ally as well. All seems ok, but I haven't fully explored all the possible bugs yet. I noticed the scripts had to be updated again after flashing. IcS wallpapers FC the ADW launcher, no big deal. I now have a 'fuel injected' Model T of a phone. My 6yo daughter can develop her skills without me worrying about cost of connecting. Woohoo! I doubt we'll get to the projected version 1.3. That's ok, to. I think the Ally has been sufficiently stretched outside it's operating life.

Whoop, found 1 glitch...selecting ICS wallpaper FCs the android process. Pssht, NOT a 1.2.2 18 deal-breaker for me. I'll keep it.
