This app enables you to flash up to five different roms upon boot. It became available for the Gnex today. It's available on the market.

Edit: I have my phone's rom set up with this (AOKP 21) and I've set up Liquid Beta 2. I just boot between the two of them. You can switch between roms with a simple reboot. You can also modify any rom from the rom you're in. You don't have to go into bootloader mode. Amazing stuff. Freedom. This, here, is what I signed onto the Gnex for.

No kidding. This is the most important breakthrough for gnex mods this month. This app is major, people. Major. Bon apetit!

So, I bought this as per the recommendations on reedit, and this site for my Galaxy Nexus. However, whenever I try to install a ROM (e.g. GummyNex or the latest CM 9 build), I get an error during the installation. After it says editing boot.img, I get "Error building new boot.img". I'm confused why this is the case, and would appreciate any help!

Thanks!

Matt, there's a wonderful tutorial video by the dev. They answer a lot of questions. I'm new at this, too.. Also, you can Tweet the dev. He's answered me twice. :)

How does it handle data?

My biggest issue with switching roms was never "switching" them.

it was always reloading apps, setting up homescreens, losing game data(angry birds), and now having to "re-link" google wallet...

I attempted this yesterday. AOKP as phone ROM and Apex in slot 1. Phone wouldn't boot Apex. Attempted it today by restoring Apex Nandroid and made it all the way to the bootanimation but no further.

Wiped slot 1 and installed Liquid beta 2 and it booted! Restoring apps now to see how much space it takes up.

Will try Apex again once it's finished.

This looks sweet!

So, this basically lets you 'hot swap' roms? i.e. no more having to reboot into clockwork and then manually select and install a zip file each time?

While restoring apps with Titanium I got about 60% of the way through and got the low storage warning even though I had 12GB remaining on the SD. Does the Nexus still only allocate so much space for apps even though we have no external SD?

On the plus side I learned a new ICS feature. In system/storage you can click on each list and manage storage. MISC allows you to see file size and delete files.

I have three roms running fine on this already.

AOKP - my phone rom
Liquid - Slot 1
Codename Android - Slot 2

They all loaded fine and TiBu restored apps great, so I didn't have to worry/bother. It was quick.

What didn't work in slots was-

Vicious Miui - I couldn't get to root.
Apex- It would boot but wouldn't unpack Apex gapps correctly. I tweeted Fab about that.

I haven't tried AOKP in a slot as it's my phone rom. I'm going to try another tomorrow.

So far so good. Easy Peasy. Just watch the instruction video.

Hi all,
Just got Boot Manager and I'm having an issue but it appears to be different than the ones y'all are reporting. Any ROM I try to install it says Install Error License Check Fail. Ideas?

Thanks!

I got the same error. Had to reboot the phone after setting up phone ROM the first time.

Very cool app. It's been out for a while as I remember people using it when I had my TB. I didn't know it wasn't ICS compatible until recently. I don't switch between ROMs frequently enough for me to thoroughly enjoy using this app. Plus, call me old school I'd you'd like, but I like the process of flashing/setting up when switching ROMs :)

Just got this. I plan to use this for testing ROMs. I can install new ones in the slot and see how the like my phone. Then, I can move them over to my phone if I like them.

I have been hoping to see more activity in the boards on BM but its very quiet.

I am running it very well on AOKP with B31 as the PR and AOKP B33 in S1 and B34 in S2.

I am wondering in the event I like a slot and want to make it my main Phone ROM and ditch the rest if this is a good way to go?

In boot manager boot to the slot I want to make my permanent ROM.
Open Boot manager and in Phone ROM choose Setup Phone.
Go to the other slots and delete them.
Boot the phone ROM and its done?

In other words, when I have decided I want a Slot ROM to be my Main ROM, is this the best way?

Its been a while since I used the app but doesn't it give you a warning when you select phone ROM about never setting up the phone ROM if you are already booted to a slot?

I kinda want to install it for you to double check, but then again I kinda don't. :p

EDIT: I just watched the video again and he definitely tells you that at 5:26

Thanks! I was worried at 1st because using the free version is not as good as the paid. I have the paid and it has been upgraded to ics. There are ROM's that will hicup. I think the one that has Gapps included in the flash does not play nice. Smooth Blue or something like that. BAMF worked. I tried a few. AOKP is my fav.
