[Verizon] Boot Animation Won't Change

I played with new boot animations yesterday, flashed a few looking for one I liked. I installed a Star Trek animation which turned out to be pretty crappy but I seem to be stuck with it.

I flashed several others afterwards but the crappy one is still being used. I looked in /system/media/bootanimation.zip and it is the last one I last flashed. I guess the crappy one is being cached somewhere but I can't find it.

Any ideas?

Recovery clear cache and dalvik cache. If that doesn't do it, then try installing the new one right after clearing both caches again.

Hey Rich maybe the rom you are running looks to a different directory? Maybe check out /data/media and also data/local.

You have a gift! It was in /data/local. I wasn't sure if it was just cached there or not so I simply replaced the crappy one with the animation I wanted and it worked. Thanks!

/data/local/ will override /system/media/ that way you can keep your customizations from ROM to ROM.

Not quite.

I'll be there until you wipe data since it's user data, not system data. But if you update your rom, it'll survive that.
