[Verizon] Broken power button, can't unroot. Warranty?

Bought my Nexus two weeks ago. Unlocked and rooted, never installed new ROM. Power button isn't working now. Phone powers on when battery is put in.

I want to return to stock to send it back but can't b/c when I get into bootloader, the phone is unresponsive, like the power button is being constantly held or something. Drivers won't install.

Will the fact that I'm rooted screw up a warranty claim?

nevermind.. more reading. think i'm screwed.

Rooting should not invalidate the warranty for the power button. Rooting can invalidate part of the warranty, but can't invalidate something that would be unaffected by rooting(ie. a defective power button).

when the phone boots up for the first time it will be unrooted and back to stock, what you need to do then is enable usb debugging, and then type in:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem lock
and once it is unlocked
i think you can type in reboot, and it will reboot, or remove battery and boot it back up :)

Will do. When I get home today I'll give it another try. I was trying to use Wug's program but whenever I'd reboot into bootloader, it wouldn't recognize the phone.

That's a driver issue. You need to download the latest driver from Samsung, then while the phone is connected during recovery, go into your computer's device settings and select the latest Samsung driver.

ok.. managed to flash back to stock, unroot and re-lock. if i bought the phone from verizonwireless.com can i go to a local store and get a replacement?

I got a replacement DroidX that way.

Bought online, got a diagnosis while traveling (bad usb connector). They had nothing in-stock to replacement it so they ordered one to be delivered in 2 days.

You might need a corporate store tho. :D

Got a replacement from VZW store. They couldn't even get the phone to power on. I think I got a replacement right away b/c I'm within the 14 days.
