Sadly, Google Wallet won't work, at least no yet.
Not just the Verizon version either, but any G2. From my limited research, Google Wallet needs to get updated to support the G2, but the G2 also needs to get updated to 4.3.
Chicken/Egg scenario?
According to Google, Wallet is only available on phones running the latest version of Android, NFC, etc, etc. The G2 has NFC and all the etc's except for the latest Version of Android.
On a related note, Isis is available in the Play store and you can install it on the G2. While I felt bad that Google Wallet isn't available, I figured I'd use Isis to make payments until it was.
Who knows, perhaps I'd even like Isis more? Well that lasted all of 10 seconds as the install failed. Isis won't install on rooted devices. SOL.

idk. If the remote deposit hits my account, I'd say it should be no problem. as long as this phone is NFC enabled. I haven't even checked yet, just assuming lol.

Guess I can answer my own question since NFC is in the quick settings options. I got spooked and uninstalled wallet tho. Topic in IRC claims the root app, which I used, can can transfer some info about the phone to 3rd party. Not sure if its anything to be concerned about but I'm erring on the side of caution here in the early stages.

FWIW,I just loaded the app from the GOOGLE PLAY STORE on my HTC ONE running ANDROID 4.1.2
So,I'm guessing this is just a new phone/compatibility issue for the G2 (not including the side-loaded variant).

On XDA, the devs are giving this some attention. Basically, if the app detects a supported model, it tries to check the secure element ID in the phone. If it fails, no "tap to pay". If it isn't a supported phone, than no "tap to pay" either.
So I don't think this situation will change unless Google supports the phone.

WALLET wasn't available to load on my phone (T-Mobile) until today/yesterday,that's why I assumed it would work,that is,if I could find any local merchants that I frequent that uses this yet.......
I believe it was always available on SPRINT devices though,seems I had it loaded & ready to use on my S3 when I was w/the NOW Network......

The new app allows tap to pay (haven't tried it yet) on my Verizon GNex. I had previously had the old version working. I installed it on my wife's Verizon S3 and no tap to pay, but she never had Wallet installed previously.

So the sideloaded app doesn't work for tap to pay?

The new version in the play store wont give you tap to pay. I sideloaded my previous version and exact same thing. The Isis app also doesnt allow tap to pay.

The new wallet version does allow tap to play, but only on a few models. If it can't detect the model, it doesn't allow it. Doesn't matter if you sideload it, topload it, or anything else. Older versions might not even install.
For instance, it works on my old GNex and Nexus 10, but not on the G2.
As for Isis (and possibly Wallet later), you need a secure element SIM. You can get one from Verizon and Isis should work fine, however Isis sucks anyway and only lets you use a few specific cards.

How are they blocking it? New version installs fine.
Google themselves don't currently support the G2 for tap to pay. Why blame Verizon for that?
The issue is very complex, and part of the sticking point was access to the secure element in the phone, rather than a secure Sim card. Hoping the issues get wrapped up. That's the only thing I miss with the G2. Used my Nexus to pay all the time.
It was blocked until last week when Google disabled the tap to pay functionality for "non supported" phones. It works fine with my VZW gnex despite being "unsupported" but I previously did loaded the app. My wife's VZW S3 has the tap to pay disabled but she never had the app on her before.
Funny how the capable Verizon phones are all unsupported despite being capable (including the s3 had I side loaded it before).

Way to complex of a situation to reply here. Suffice to say, as much as everyone here (including myself) would like a class action, it just won't happen.
Actually, I take that back. Lawyers rarely do any good. I'd like all the companies to play nice and share their cookies.

Some days I wish Verizon would just take my unlimited data away so I wouldn't have it holding me hostage anymore. The coverage isn't great. Comparable to when I had AT&T, but horrible at my house, unlike AT&T. Sprint and TMobile are a joke around here from people I talk to, and I actually pay less with Verizon right now compared to every other service.

But I always try to look at both sides of an argument. If you owned a business, would you ceded control so easily? Would you like to be relegated to a "dumb" provider, where you can basically get the same exact service anywhere else and lose your customers on a whim?
Well I'm not in that position to decide on that, but I would hope I would eventually realize I'm fighting the inevitable and try to give customers reasons to use my dumb pipe over others. Higher cost for better service is fine for me, but if the service isn't that much better (it isn't for me) then don't cut me, the customer, off at the knees and limit my convenience, the device and it's upgrades.
