Hi gentlemen. So like many others I began having severe battery issues with my GNex. Haven't even used it in forever as I've been using my Moto Razr, but I want to fire up my GNex again and have it be reliable. I tried all the suggested methods of improving battery life and none worked. I even tried a heavy capacity battery (one of the brick ones) and it's still so thirsty that I barely get a few hours out of it.
So I've decided that perhaps a custom rom would solve the issue, and I'm trying to flash Paranoid Android using the method described here. I'm on Ubuntu 12.04.
Starting off with stock Android 4.2.2, I followed the instructions. Activated USB debugging on the phone. Downloaded the .sh file and ran it with sudo permissions. Successfully unlocked the bootloader, flashed the custom recovery, and rooted the device. Rebooted, used root checker and verified that I had root access. But what I had overlooked was the installation of the superuser app. So instead of doing it via the utility, I did it after the fact by simply installing one from the Play Store. And I tried it, and it worked.
So then I downloaded the Paranoid Android rom and gapps, moved them onto the phone, and flashed them using the clockwork recovery. Rebooted, and I get the Paranoid Android boot screen, but it never gets any further than that. It says it's supposed to take at least a few minutes, but I've been letting it sit for an hour and still no dice.
I did notice that I was supposed to wipe dalvik cache, so I went back into recovery and did that, but still the same result. Endless boot screen.
What did I do wrong? Were any of the steps I took incorrect?
