Verizon / Motorola needs to fix this STAT!!!!!

i have never had any sync issues either. email tends to hit my phone before my browser shows it. I don't use gmail notifier, so I contribute the difference to the refresh on the browser--nothing is instantaneous. I usually hear my phone vibrate and then just hit inbox on the computer if the mail isn't already showing.

Sync from calendar and contacts is also pretty fast for me, within seconds, never longer than a minute. When I first got the phone I editting over 200 contacts to clean up my address book since I didn't really use my google contacts for anything besides email before (i came from winmo), i saw some lag in the syncing of the contacts, but definitely not in the hours range, more like in the 30-60 seconds range.

maybe its a service thing?

I have never had sync issues with my pop3, exchange or gmail. They all work flawlessly.

And they all buzz my phone before they show up on my computer.

Mine is great, so is the calendar. GTasks still needs some sync work, but email is great.
Sounds like one of two things:
Network/data connection where you are using it
OR
PEBKAC ;)

It could be just me, But I've noticed some people on this form and others that just post about nothing just to make issues, IE. Apple fan boys. I'm sure that there are bugs, and always will be. Mr MacBook you should get a phone that more reflects the kind of thing your happy with, The Droid is not for everyone, Some like to be told what to see and do. :p I had an iphone and I was sick of all the fart apps and flashlight.

I would try and reset the phone by shutting down and removing the battery. I just use the browser for gmail so I can see the full email anyway, works best that way.

Shutting the phone down for a reboot does not solve the whole issue. Google knows that there are issues with syncing...they have posted a support topic on it. I found it and referenced it in a post in the applications forum...here it is:
Troubleshooting sync - Mobile Help

Clearing your data from the Gmail Storage and the Gmail applications and THEN rebooting the phone seems to be the solution. It solved my issues and I am back to a decent sync time.

I agree with you...the browser is a great alternative, but I like the notifications you get with the Gmail app.

LOVE my Droid! Would never go back to Blackberry...under ANY circumstance! :D

Gmail sync is the only thing thats worked great! no matter what it seems. I guess not the only thing, but yeah, it works great

I'm a BB guy coming to Droid. I'm far from a Gmail fan and that was a real issue for me.

BUT, Gmail is working like pushed BB mail with no issues so far whatsoever.

Even my Yahoo mail with K9 is pulled every 5 minutes and works great. I can't complain too much other than maybe the K9 UI stuff and some slightly weird synch issue w/K9 leaving a bunch of "drafts" in my draft folder. Nontheless, it receives and sends just great. Just not as seamless synching as the BB was. I'm sure it's the app not being quite up to snuff.

Otherwise, I'm good with email on the Droid.

For the first couple of weeks I had my Droid, e-mail often did not push to the phone. that was usually remedied by turning off the device and rebooting. I have not had issues now for several weeks.

I assume what everyone is talking about is the over-the-air synchronization. I've had no problems at all with this. My Verizon rep set it up when I bought my Droid, and it had worked flawlessly.

First, you are using the GMAIL app right, not the Email App? Second are the emails being sent to the gmail account, OR is this gmail account a forwarding account you made (like email being forwarded from yahoo or hotmail?). The reason I ask the last one is because I was doing that and it took over an hour for Gmail to receive from the other end and then to send to me.

Are you using a task killer app? This caused all kinds of problems for me when I was using it to kill everything all the time. No Gmail sync, Market downloads not working, etc. If you're using one, it needs to have all the default apps related to that stuff set on ignore. I only use TasKiller now to kill downloaded apps that actually keep using 3G or GPS etc when they're minimized.

That's true too. I had the same problem. You need to ignore the important apps.
