[Verizon] Need some tips about restoring after installing a new ROM...

Hello everyone,

Just a quick thanks for all the help and advice, but I need a little more.
I have gotten the hang of installing the custom ROM from AOKP. I followed the instructions and all worked well

Make sure you're on the latest CWM
MAKE A NANDROID
wipe data/factory reset in recovery
flash ROM
flash Gapps
reboot

The problem is when I want to use titanium backup to restore my user apps and data. I don't have any user data that I care about as if yet (want to figure out the restore stuff before I put anything really important on the phone)

Here are the questions:
1) When I look at titanium backup I see a lot of things that have lines through them, but that are what I think are system apps (Clock 2.0.3, Camera 1, Browser 4.0.2-235179, Calendar 4.0.2-235179, Android keyboard 4.0.2-235179) I can find some of these duplicated and not lined out. Why is this and can I get rid of them and how?

2) How does the android market work with a new ROM (I know that some apps have re-installed without me doing much). I cannot quite see how these are handled, especially with purchased ones. I know that I have to redownload titanium backup and that CWM is still on the phone I think.

I'll leave it there as I might figure out some of these things before tomorrow.

BTW for those who have the AOKP build 27 the swagger toggle causes butter to run out your phone, but only on selected handsets

Welcome!! For me....as soon as I reboot after flashing the rom and gapps, the market redownloads everything I had installed, purchased or free from the market. Including titanium backup. Then I go I to TIBU, and select each program that I want to restore...they will usually be lined out...and restore the app only, not data. But I only restore the apps I want to add back in. Everything else that is needed comes in the rom and gapps.....unfortunately every time you reset...you have to re set up all your user names and passwords... but that is the nature of the wipe.

I have been doing this since the beginning on my nexus and it has worked flawlessly...as long as I remember to have a full backup of every app backed up in TIBU. You can do that manually, before you do a full wipe, just go to the same place in TIBU and click the program and select backup.

Those apps with the lines through them are apps that are already installed. The ones you mentioned are system apps and are included in the gapps package you flash after the ROM

The Market will auto restore your apps if you tick that option when you first sign into your Google account after a fresh wipe. There are 2 options and, going off memory, 1 of those needs to be unticked for your apps to not auto restore.

but what if market apps is not visible.i flashed my phone wt new kernel nd flashed new rom but i am not finding my market app.i tried to reinstall it but coming as apps not installed.i tried to restore through cwm recovery but my phone won't reboot or stucks in blank screen.flashed again.everything working but market is not available.where can i get that?

got it.just need to install gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip nd just flash it like other roms nd hurrah i got my market back..
