Verizon Note 2 Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

They are doing it their way...with their logo blasted all over the device. Ay word yet if the home button does indeed have that abomination ?

Also easy fix....signature required for FedEx? Sign a piece of paper and instruct them to leave it at the door. Never failed me.

It's pretty annoying to me that Verizon is holding this device back, probably because of the Htc DNA, which isn't even the same type of device IMO. Verizon is such scum.

Wait, was the DNA launched 14 days prior? If so, the exchange/return window is 14 days. Makes business sense.... kinda.:D

It definitely does, but I hear it's easy to remove with sandpaper, or a replacement button. I might even get creative and get a white home button to replace mine with (I have a titanium grey Note 2 coming). Also planning to get an OEM back plate granted there aren't any differences in the snap-on mechanism, but even then I'll have a case so I won't see any of it either way.

Or after the 1st failed delivery, call FEDEX with the tracking number and have them hold at the local station.

Go pick it up with picture ID (and the tracking info) after work. Check their hours, but most are open after 5.... and I'm not talking about fedex/kinkos, these are real fedex hubs...

Ugh, I'll stop talking now...

All you loyal customers / Verizon haters crack me up!
If they're so awful there are other choices.

I don't mind a logo on my phone nor do I mind the BMW badge on my car or all the other gizmo's that have a name on them. If the phone works and I don't get dropped calls I'm happy.

I didn't know being a customer meant I couldn't be critical of how they operate, and I didn't know it meant I was a hater. I love Verizon but I hate how they can be with some things. Is that so bad?

Real LTE and more coverage than anyone. Why would you choose anything else?

tmob is really only a MVNO "city carrier" and won't work on my trips over real GGG's or even GGGG's.

Straight talk MVNO, I tried calling them tonight... 15+ min hold time, had to transfer me back to someone about a asking about new service..... click, disconnect on their end.

ATT? Does anyone use their crappy dropped call service any more? Might as well tmob or ST with MORE dropped calls per call! See what I did there? Huzzuh!!!

Sprint, not the best implementation, but I can at least understand my friends on a voice call when they are on their network in the city!

Did I just go there? Oh yes I did :D:D

I don't care about the logo either. It cracks me up that so many are making such a big deal about a freakin' button.
I also can't wait to see how many people try scratching off the logo but scratch the button instead. That's going to be extremely amusing.

yea im getting super skeptical of the places i called. that fact that nobody has it yet is making me this way. oh well thursday will be a good day!
Same here! Im hoping they are playing dumb to keep the natives from attacking. hope, because if not their ignorance is sad.
I honestly don't think they're playing dumb. It appears all the carriers got in VERY few shipments. I was fortunate when I got mine at 8 a.m; all other stores open at 10. Had I gone to one of the 10 o'clock stores, I would've been S.O.L.
It says signature required on my shipment notice so I'm sure that's the case.

I work from home Thursday, but the challenge will be to get to the door in time. It seems like the fedex guy rings the doorbell once then makes a mad dash back to the truck. :)
UPS and FedEx arrive in my neighborhood everyday like clockwork. If it's UPS you know they'll knock around 10:30. FedEx 2:30-3:00. The only time that changes is when the regular driver is off. Then it becomes a nightmare.
The NFC keychains I bought already have the chip inside and doesn't need a tag attached to it.
Would you mind sharing with the rest of us which ones you bought?

Scum because they choose to market another more exclusive device first???

Do they highlight a product that is an exclusive only to them...or market a product that every other company sells? It's just smart business practice and I don't fault them for their release schedule.

I'm just happy the picked up the N2 after passing on the N1. I don't mind waiting the extra couple of weeks and I'm glad they they honored their promise to ship on time.

They haven't even issued the press release like they normally do on the Tuesday before a phone launches. It seems like they're hoping this launch goes bad so they can say to Samsung "your phone didn't do that well, so the next time you launch a flagship we're doing it our way." Remember, this is the same carrier that didn't even want the Samsung Galaxy S2, and we know that was because everyone else had it. And now they're imposing their will on Samsung with all the unnecessary branding with the Note 2. It's just Verizon's MO because they're the big bad carrier on the block with the most money and customers, and everything has to go their way. Oh well, I'll have my device in a couple of days and won't care a bit!

harplayr they're probably going to do what ogwilson just said, put zero effort into it so that they can throw their weight around in the future, more than they already do I'm sure. Us consumers don't benefit from it so I don't see why you'd blame me for not liking it, as a consumer. IMO they should've released the Note 2 ASAP so that demand died down before the DNA was released then they would've had 2 successful releases instead of 1, but now they'll have a few people get the DNA and the Verizon customers who've been waiting will get the Note 2, though I'm sure with a bunch of bloatware etc. I look out for the consumer because that's what we are. "Smart Business Practices" don't concern me because Verizon's bottom line does not concern me.

Also like dude said I have a choice, and I choose not to support those business practices.

If they were smart they'd have flawed both pre Black Friday and discounted $50. They woulda sold out easy.

And there is no other option but big red if you want good service...and especially I'd you have unlimited data...

Imma try rubbing the *beep* out of it. Just like every other logo phones i have had...they all come off.

Maybe some thinner on a tooth-pic...some model paint...hmmm. Worse comes to worse a sticker. Either way if i jack it up to bad i know i can get a replacement cover for it. Either way i really dont care...i got it for guts not the body.

There are gonna sell out now! Customer wise...i wish they sold it early on sell. Business wise...why sell it at discount price when they will sell out the same at full price! Mo money, mo money, mo money!

Amen!

That would've been a good idea.

I'm honestly surprised at how well AT&T has been for me this go around (since February). No dropped calls and there's only one place I know of that has no service, Red Lobster in Annapolis lol. and I do get "unlimited data for non-smartphones" on my Nexus 4 on AT&T :)

Since everyone seems to hate the logo, I'm going to be the odd one out. I kinda like it, or should I say I can deal with it. People like to complain regardless of how petty it is. Like someone mentioned there's other options out there. This will probably be my last phone with Verizon because once the other companies catch up, I'M OUT! :)

Called to try and get an early upgrade to the Note 2. Apparently the Note 2 follows the same rules as the iPhone 5. No early upgrades, you have to wait until your upgrade date to get the reduced amount. I think I might try giving a call when the phone is officially released and see if it was just a system error or something.

called my local vzw office and they are getting them in tomorrow but not selling till thursday just like everyone else has heard. hopefully some of you who pre-ordered will get theirs tomorrow!

From the first time I heard/saw the branded button, I was put off by it. It was by no means gonna stop me from getting the phone though.

Now, after just playing with one in a store for a good while, I will say that I totally forgot the branding was there. Compared to the awesomeness of the device & the beauty of the screen, I don't care about that button at all anymore.

Now I just have to make it till Thursday morning without the phone.

When I bought my first iPhone, much like today, I was tracking it every minute. I called the local FedEx place and asked them to track it. I didn't expect it, but the driver called me and said, "I'll be at the Radio Shack in 15 minutes if you want to meet me."

This was in a big city and I'm sure that is not the policy but that was a great day. I tipped him.

Some of you may consider giving it a try. Call and say, I'm on my lunch break and can I meet the driver or can I leave a note telling him that it is OK to leave the package.

If you meet him, you will have to show ID but that should not be an issue.

This is not normal! Please post up some review info ASAP on the features or lack of features!

Here's the reason I wanted to see a comparison of the S3 vs the Note 2 - 3 days at home - solid (almost 100%) 4G. 1 day @ work (and home - and travel time)

LTE 47.6%, 1xRTT 26.7%, EVDO 3.3%, EHRPD (whatever that is) 20.8%
