Uhhh, so I got a wild hair and decided to try Paranoid Android today and all I can say is wow! Anybody else been running this?

Not sure how he got the browser GUI so much better but I love it. The settings almost remind me of a "tablet mode" where you have a pane for selections and another for further detail about those selections. Maybe not ideal for those with poor eyesight but way more functional IMO. All kinds of customization available. After being on JBSourcery for so long, its like I'm starting from scratch in terms of a learning curve. Which is kinda cool actually. Makes me feel like I own a different phone again. I didn't really think that was going to happen again with this phone.

Can't say this strongly enough...HIGHLY recommend this rom.
 
Thanks for the input on this. I just went back to Sourcery after over a month on Ak47. Some features I missed, after the wifi and ui hiccups was going back to '47 Think I'll give this a go.
 
I'm digging the halo. I think the port can be refined some more but its a cool thing for people who are on their phone a lot. Basically, notifications float in from the side and if you decide to open it, a smaller than usual window opens up over top whatever you were working on at the time. Easier to read/reply to stuff and get back to what you were doing in a more seamless way. Cool stuffs.
 
How's the lag on the GNex? I've been curious about this, especially as JBSourcery is done, but I'm a little concerned about my GNex not being quite powerful enough to make Halo work really well.
 
Its got the typical Gnex lag I'd say. Minimal but noticeable. Its more kernel dependent though. I'm using Lean right now and I'm not sure its the ideal choice. You want something that can fire the processors up to a midrange or above quickly. Actually I'm finding the provided kernel is pretty solid.So you may be getting the idea...this rom is not awesome for battery life, be warned. I'm used to that anyway and have adjusted my life to include chargers at home, in my vehicle and at work. Fact of life being Gnex owner.
 
Couple more comments on the Halo. Its still a beta feature and is not fully functional on this rom. There is no Halo app so you can't pin apps to always be available via swiping the Halo ring. The functionality in this rom is being able to interact with the current, active notifications.

Also a few Halo tips...to move the ring, double tap and when your finger hits on the 2nd tap, hold it down and drag the halo to a different location. To clear a notification, swipe halo up. To open a notification single tap the halo. To ignore a halo notification and force it back to the sideline, swipe it down.

Once you have the halo app installed and have items "pinned". Swipe the halo right or left twice and on the second swipe, hold your finger down while swiping. That's what makes the multiple apps show up for quick access.
 
So after posting earlier, I went ahead and wiped/installed PA. Definitely agree on the "typical GNex lag" bit, but otherwise it's fairly fun. A lot more polished than JBS, but also more focused. JBS had tons of random bits added in, PA seems to be missing a lot of that, but the end result is still pleasing.

I'll probably run with this for a while, something new is always welcome!

Did you get the Halo app from the play store? That really makes it nice.
 
Been on PA for about 2 weeks and have it to be a very stable ROM. Usually I like running Lean but have not found a reason to switch from what came with the download.

The only oddity I have had is on occasion with custom nav coloring reverting back to original.

I like the ROM and will stay on it.

I've found a way to seriously reduce lag. First, I installed AK Kernel, my first experience with this one. Then using Trixter Mod I changed these settings under the "General" tab:

TCP control: cubic
Read ahead buffer: 896
Scheduler: fiops
Max screen on and off both to 35000
Governor: on demand

Many of these settings were recommended by a guru in the AK thread. What I'm finding is that it's running like a peach. Battery stats yet to be determined.
 
The aokp and jbs mods grew on me fast. I flashed pa as soon as halo was announced.. so the last build before it was incorporated. Haven't looked back since. The features of aokp and jbs have grown off me just as fast. Lol. I was actually getting annoyed at custom Roms. This was/is my last stop before stock.
 
Just loaded this ROM up for a test drive, wondering how to get rid of the ever present Google search bar
 
Thanks. And I gotta say, this ROM is very nice so far. Battery life remains to be seen, but I haven't noticed it being a hog yet.
 
I've been on PA for a few months now. Love all the features and per app color. Runs pretty good, but yeah, the lag is getting noticeable. Maybe just the age of the GNex. Used PIE and desktop mode at first, but have gone back to the on screen buttons. Nice to change it up every once in a while.
 
New build and gapps are up and this may be the snappiest rom I've run on the gnex since ICS. Not sure what was done to lean it up but its impressive.
 
I love it so far but Wi-Fi won't connect. Any suggestions? Is really snappy.

Never mind sorry, I was doing the wrong password...
 
I'm pretty happy with it, except for one thing. It's missing a quick toggle for USB Fast Charge. I like to leave it on (it's both practical and provides additional security!), but if I'm fooling around with Android development or moving files, it's annoying. Any thoughts on ways to get a fast charge quick toggle?
 
Just wanted to say I have been running this for awhile and have Lean Kernel on it and runs pretty good, and has pretty good battery life, minimal lag...

Of course my main usages are: Texting, Calling, Checking Social Networking Apps, No gaming.
