Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

Well, my credit card was charged the full amount for my blue 32 S3 two days ago. I pre-ordered mine very early on the 6th. I called Verizon today on a non-related matter on my bill. I had them check the status on my order and advised that my credit card had been charged. He pulled up my order and told me that my shipping date showed July 5th. He followed that with "You must have ordered yours really early.". I will keep everyone posted.

I'll be in 37204 zip code Thursday and Friday. If you live there, I WILL have your phone!
And yes, I'll have mine in my hands by 8am the day it arrives. Unfortunately I will immediately have to start my route and won't get to play with it till about 4pm. :(

Bet if your truck has a 12volt plug in, the GS3 will be charging!!!!

Is he trying to take your wallet? Be sure to shoot first, empty the magazine, rinse and repeat, and give him some concrete boots and take him for a swim in the deepest lake around.

Ha ha thats good i dont think i have a problem with an individual sticking me up. Its just a bit frustrating. I was just hoping that since i got my order placed early i might reap the benefits. along with talking to the lady today giving me the 9th then confirming it myself i thought for sure id get it before the phone hits stores if not he 6th like some are reporting. Only to find out i now have an error on my order that is causing it to wait till the 11th to ship in matter of hrs when she could have told me about the problem on the phone.

Funny how many people were posting things like "F-ing VZW! They probably won't ship until 7/12!" I know everyone thinks they are so massive that they couldn't really care what people like us think, but my guess is that they realize that they are in the service industry. Yes, they sell phones and cell service, but I'm sure they understand that if they let down their customers, they will lose in the long run.
Quite frankly, you're wrong. Verizon has removed unlimited data for quite awhile now... you can't purchase it any longer as a new customer and couldn't for the past year or more. Now they are forcing loyal customers to go to tiered data when executing regular industry standard upgrade practices, which does nothing but hurt loyal customers. They also instituted a $30 upgrade fee when upgrading your phone, which again only hurts loyal customers. And they also removed their annual upgrade program. In a struggling economy, Verizon is generating more revenue than ever.

Verizon costs more, but they provide more. That doesn't mean they care about their customers. Your story about the loaner phone is most certainly not indicative of Verizon's corporate strategy, it's merely a genuinely nice human taking pity on another human. If it was an example of Verizon's great customer service, they would have pulled out a dedicated loaner phone that is used on a regular basis and paid for by Verizon.

Ha! I don't work for Verizon, but this was the store in Broomfield right across the parking lot from the Best Buy. I am also in the service industry and work for Qdoba overseeing the Western U.S. I preach great customer service to all my teams, and every time I've been in that location, they have been all smiles, and very helpful. Makes a big difference in building brand loyalty.

As a representative of the food industry, you understand how important it is for your employees to understand your food product, and to be able to convey that information to customers as required. This is more important in a formal restaurant where pre-service educates servers as to what's on the menu, but the concept still applies. This is just as important if not more so in Technology, and Verizon CSR's rank up there as the least educated of them all. A company that provides great customer service doesn't give 3 different contradicting answers on 3 different phone calls to the same call center. A great company also wouldn't tell you that they are recording your phone call, but tell you they can't talk to you unless you turn your recorder off.

That being said, still better than what AT&T does to it's customers... never again...

Nice to see this thread heating up, and I'm happy for all of you getting expected ship dates! I hope Verizon moves through their queue early and we all get our pre-orders before the 10th. I would hate to get mine after the folks that waltz into a store for one, especially since I'm leaving for SD for two weeks on the 12th!!

Came home from a late shift to the pleasant surprise of my order shipping! Should arrive by 7pm on Friday. Only (good) problem is, I'm leaving town on Friday. I'm gonna figure out what time my FedEx man makes his rounds at my apt complex then decide if it's worth it to wait...

I still plan on dressing like a pirate and getting drunk, +/- S3 in hand, although maybe I can have more fun without a brand new phone in my drunk pocket...

I wonder how many people will be able to actually "waltz" in and grab one... this may be a case where you'll need to camp out to get the phone, especially considering the shortages that are still occurring. Also, only 16GB versions are available, and no-ones who buys one in store on the 10th will have unlimited data.

I hope you get it before your trip, I know how frustrating it is to have an opportunity to use it to it's full potential (like a vacation) but unable to due to unexplained delays.

You can all thank me for the shipping. I pre-ordered day 1 and have been checking this thread daily since then for release news, and the one day I don't stop by this thread is when all heck breaks loose. Maybe I should have skipped visiting this thread a lot sooner and that would have triggered the release status change. :p

Its weird, did everyone who is getting theirs on 7/5 pay for overnight. It almost seems location based. From what I have noticed everything coming from Memphis TN is showing a 7/5 delivery date, and everything coming from West Chester PA is showing a 7/6 delivery date and 2 day shipping. I wonder why?

BAH! It does seem like most of the pre-orders being released are all from the east coast. I just know I was up early to pre-order this sucker knowing I wanted it. Now feel like a kid and someone stole my candy out of my hand. haha. Or like it's christmas and everyone is getting their presents from Santa and I'm sitting with coal. haha. I know I will eventually get it, just wishing Verizon would send out the phones for pre-orders for everyone who ordered the first day it was opened.

I'm on the west coast so I was up at 4AM PT! Mine hasn't shipped, nor has my card been charged.

Little rant here:

I ordered at 6:30cst on june 6th called today to get my order number and check the status, and that returned a message of july 9th the same date the lady on the phone told me. Got on here tonight to find that some were getting theirs on the 6 th so i checked back hoping for an update. Sure enough there was to my surprise and................it now says the 11th. Apperently there was a problem with my order it says and claims i recieved an email that never showed up in any of my email folders. so what to do?

I guess call them on thursday, or does anyone have any more input.

Mine was originally "Ship By" the 9th as well, but it now also says "Expected Ship Date 07/11/12", however there's no notice of an error or that they tried to notify via email . I ordered around 3 hours after 7AM ET on the 6th. I initially tried to order at 7AM ET (I'm in Cali so that's 4AM PT for me), but the website continuously failed to process the order for me for some reason. I also tried calling and the CSR also could not process my order. After an hour of this I went back to bed, then tried the website again a couple of hours later and it went through. I guess that 3 hour gap translates to 2 additional days . It has been a long wait, but I guess I'll just have to pick my nose for a few more days. But hey, I got a new guitar a couple days ago, hence my distraction from this site, so at least I get to be happy about something.

Anyway, I guess I'll be calling Thursday as well.

Im glad im not the only one but im sorry you now are frustrated as well. So your ship date changed today as well?

Yeah, it's a holiday, but don't you know how important this phone is to us? Use your keys, get into the facility and drive out with your pre-loaded trucks, or just root through the packages and pull out the Galaxy S3 orders. I will be waiting in the driveway in a beach chair. Thanks.

Happy Independence Day everyone!:)
Still radio silence from Verizon here.
Looks like most people getting their phones Thursday the order number is in the 40,000s. Mine is 1.5 million.:(
Guess the only thing to do is enjoy the day off
beerglass.gif
and try not to obsess over it

Does Verizon send an email when your phone ships or does it show up when you check your order status? I'm sure it's been covered but i just got off work so excuse my laziness:)

I ordered the 16GB White on 6/13 and saw my CC charged but no shipping notification. Called VZW and the lady said the order had, in fact, shipped last evening but the holiday / shipping carrier closures may or may not impact quickness of shipping notification. Bottom line though is that at least one person who ordered later than 6/6 is getting shipped.

Excellent choice by VZW releasing these early... i am generally the first to give them the finger but it looks like they will be the only carrier with a smooth release (fingers crossed)

I'm sure you're right. But I'll *feel* like it's noticeably faster! (kind of like your car always runs better after you detail the engine.) :D
I KNOW my car is faster with a huge 4" chrome tail pipe and a large bumper sticker. At least 10-15 hp. Don't go there, I can prove it, my butt dyno doesn't lie.:car:

I really wish i wasnt so damn indecisive when preordering. I eventually pulled the trigger 5 days later on the 11th. Like others, i only hope i get it on the 9th...

My "order" number is in the 40s and still nothing. Not even the promised email explaining the so called error in processing. I mean seriously, if there is a problem, it's not like you have no way to contact me...

Congrats to cclancy, but boo on you verizon for the craptastic order tracking and fulfillment system.

Smarter choice would have been to ship them Monday so we would have had them yesterday and show them off to our friends and family on the July 4th holiday. My first iPhone sighting was at a fireworks display back in 2007. Exposure sells just as many phones as advertising, IMO.

I do agree they were VERY smart in setting their unofficial release dates (7/9 thru 7/11). It was obvious early there would be shortages for all US carriers.

Order numbers must have more to do with where the order was taken (specific web server vs phone vs store entry). I ordered mine 5 hours in 1st day via my Droid X while on break which may be why my O# is so high. It's like ordering at a fast food place. One register has order numbers in the 100s and the other in the 200s.

And yes, I have anxiety when I check my email. I want an email from Verizon, but if it's the "bad one"....arrrghhhh

Marketing would have to work out their bubble to think that way ;)

I think that since VZW is bigger than the others and there is an already well documented supply issue with 32gb models and S4 28nm in general, they are trying to time the release to not tick off 32gb owners.

It appears a lot more 32gb versions were ordered than expected, so they chose the lesser of the evils.

Also, that VZW bloat takes a little more time ;) At least we can disable most of it in ICS and no root needed.

I know that many of you have not received a shipment notification and are still suffering from SDD (Samsung Deficit Disorder). Verizon appears to be doing the best they can to prescribe you 'Gitaphone'.

Relax, enjoy your Holiday and remember the sacrifices our troops are making to protect our beautiful country - the United States of America - on it's birthday.

UPDATE:

Some of you in the nature ravaged parts of the county will be relieved to know that your orders are on their way and notifications or shipments will arrive soon.

Trent Reznor, babygurl378 and DaveT, Obama just approved a trillion dollars to have this FEDEX driver start his journey through Colorado to get you your S3's by the end of the week.

I'm sure that all of you will be relieved to know that Eryl Flynn's S3 has been salvaged from that nasty overturned FEDEX truck and is on it's way to him by Air Freight to Virginia Beach as I type this.

HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY FUTURE S3 OWNERS!!!

Got my email, says shipping tomorrow 2 day. WTF? Up side, it is coming from Chester PA, that is not far from our Maryland site that I can ship Fedex ground to and it gets there next day. So I might still get it Friday despite getting robbed and them sending it 2 day when they website said overnight. Must be because I HAD to do it on the phone due to the archaic system that won't let me charge it to a card NOT my wife's.

Crossing my fingers, but now worst case is Monday.
