Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

Verizon has not scheduled training for the phone yet. We will not see a 21st release I think we will be extremely lucky if we see it by the before July 9th. I am thinking the 28th would be awesome. AT&T, T-mobile and Sprint all had training on the devices at the beginning of this week. Verizon's management has not yet had training on the devices.

Maybe true, but behavior as I mentioned points to them wanting to keep up with the Jones, and releasing 2 weeks later is not keeping up.

Either way, it is what it is. They will release it when they choose to no matter what we think or interpret of their behavior.

Ya I understand what your saying but Verizon's logic is "our galaxy is the best its the only one that can fully use LTE and is a global phone" We know Sprint's version is not global and they have no LTE network. AT&T has a 4g but not even close to Verizon and I do not think its global capable. Verizon is not worried about being late in race when they have the best network already up and running for this phone. I left out T-mobile because well its the same reasons as the other 2.

Seems like the 28th would be a good day to release.

Someone mentioned that Thursday's are typical days to release big devices on Verizon.

Also, that would coincide with the rate changes.

Damn I'm glad I pre-ordered, haha.

I will be honest, with Verizon changing the preorder ship by date, I'm starting to think that was the actual launch date.

I'm wondering if the switchover to the new share everything plan is the hold up on this phone.... we have all seen that Verizon's systems have been whacky lately and I have heard of SEVERAL people getting emails about cancelations that didn't happen and a few more getting someone elses statement via email. They may not be able to handle activating a few hundred thousand units over the course of a couple days until a week or two after the new plans roll out.... I could be (and hopefully am) way off, but it seems likely to me.

Hopefully someone will know more than me.

I have chatted with one rep, spoken to another. I want to keep my unlimited for a while longer. I have 2 upgrades I can use. I was looking at the III, which doesn't ship unitl July 10th now from info on the vzw site.

One rep said that I will keep my unlimited if i pre order even though delivery is after the 28th cutoff.

the other rep said I lose my unlimited since it ships after the cutoff date.

Which is really true?

Option 1. We have had quite a few users dealing with CSRs saying you will lose your unlimited, but it is not true. Verizon has officially stated you will keep your unlimited if you pre-order prior to the 28th.

And I have an e-mail stating that I keep unlimited. It's in writing, they'd better not mess with it or I may have to go Chief all over them ;)

There was a previous poster stating that when going to activate your phone you need to call Verizon and have them activate it for you. If you do not you can loose your unlimited data because your activating it after June 28th. Is this true? Do we need to call? And if we do call and the person says that we can not get unlimited data do we just hang up and call until we get someone that will allow us to keep the unlimited data?

Or the fact that they did sell out of their first batch of preorders. I mean this happens with the iphone all the time and those who preorder one now would get one of the second batches. I would assume Verizon did not have that many preorders stocked up since they always seem to carry less android phone stock right away.

Calling into Verizon changes nothing with your plan. If you look over what you agreed to and see it says unlimited web and data and activate the phone by yourself nothing is going to change and if by some freak accident it does call in and you have proof of what terms you agreed to and if they wont that lets you out of contract scotch free.

With a brand new phone?

I do not see anything on it saying unlimited data though...

Its right there! The 29.99 web and data unlimited

All I can tell you, folks, is that NUMEROUS CSRs have advised me NOT to activate the phone myself, but to call in and make SURE that my data plan does not change.

This is also based in history: When tiered data came along and unlimited went away, a significant number of members complained that they had activated their phones themselves... and ended up on 2GB tiered data. I have always called in to activate the phone - and still have unlimited.

So take it onboard for what you think it's worth, ladies & gentlemen; but I like to play it VERY safe when it comes to my data plan. A call to a toll-free number and a few minutes on hold is worth it to me :)

pls forgive my laziness, i have read thru about 300 posts and searched, but maybe not the right terms..

I am looking to hold a 'real' phone. it doesn't have to work, but i would like to see the weight, size, how it feels in my hand, does it fit in my pocket, etc.

Do any stores, BB, costco, etc. have a non working but 'real' phone?

Good point, verizon probably can't handle new plans and a super popular phone that has a ton of preorders all around the same time, putting the release after should help give some time for things to calm down, though realistically if they released the 20th or 21st it might be early enough to not be a big deal, unless they are training on the new system then and setting it all up and testing and what not.

Non-working would be called a dummy phone, even if you could find one, it wouldn't be real, it would be a lightweight plastic shell. I don't think the dummy phones really weigh quite what the real phones do. If you want to get a feel for this phone the closest you can get is finding someone with the international version and ask to play with theirs.

Or go look at the Galaxy Nexus. The GS3 is a touch thinner and a touch taller to my aging eyes. Should give him a general feel for it though. Check here

i guess i shoulnt expect anything till next week and then the actual wait begins

I went and played with a one x today which has similar dimensions and it felt good in hand and not to large so I'm not worried about the sgs3 being to large to hold and use

Please everyone, it has been established by now. Order before June 28th = keep unlimited data. Stop worrying about the permutations about who/how/where to activate
