For Pete's sake. If people would hit the search button and take time to read instead of the post button, they'd see this vzw unlimited data has been discussed in great lengths in about 1000+ other f'ing threads.

Every forum I'm a part of, I do not post alot, but I read alot more.

Folks can we agree if you want to talk about the whole keeping your unlimited data topic you can go here Verizon - Android Forums

If you want to talk about the S3, which is what this thread is intended, make your comments here in this thread.

Has anyone here been to a T-mobile store that has them and seen both colors? I would imagine some of you live in big cities where it has been launched.

I agree: this unlimited data thing has been discussed ad nauseum... and yet it pains me to think how many people are going to lose it by not doing a little reading.

To KEEP unlimited data on your Verizon SGS3:

(1) Pre-order SGS3 before midnight TONIGHT. Family data plans start TOMORROW!

(2) When you get your phone by FedEx, DO NOT activate on the SGS3! Call Verizon on another phone and activate it with Customer Support, getting names, dates, times, etc. and making sure that NOTHING changes on your plan except the phone. I have been advised to do this by numerous CSRs.

(3) Start setting aside money each month in a special savings account somewhere so you can pay full retail for every Verizon phone you buy from here on out. *-I kind of added this one myself. It works :)

Now, can we at last put this topic to rest? I sure hope so. As of midnight tonight it will be a non-issue for people who haven't pre-ordered yet, as they'll be completely at Verizon's mercy and will very likely lose unlimited data.

My LAST 0.02 on the subject.

I hope ;)

Still no indication of this going to VZW? Kind of doubt it if VZW has the GN, right?

If your joking you might the perfect women :)

Just spoke with Best Buy Mobile who said to check with local store where I pre-ordered. She stated that "some stores have gotten their shipments".

"We'll see"

Chief you are the man!!! Not only do you know your phone "stuff", but who knew you were a financial advisor as well. Next time I'm passing thru " The Chester" beer is on me at the J & G.

Verizon may have started getting phones now. Sprint shipped there 32GB orders today. I would be hesitant to believe Verizon has any phones until after we see a full store launch by sprint and AT&t.

Actually I WAS (and still AM in an unofficial capacity) a financial advisor... but thank you :)

While my beer days are long behind me, it would be a privilege to meet you at J&G or anywhere else. Two Purple Pigs on I-24 Exit 110 has great BBQ ribs, if you happen to like those!

Just curious but what would be the reason for this. Whether you get the phone before or after the 28th who's to know if you paid full or got it subsidized? I recall reading anyway that "activating" a phone after the 28th automatically puts you on some default shared plan. Sure I'll call if I need and will to be safe but I'm just trying to understand why it's necessary. Why couldn't I simply swap my sim card from my GN to the SGlll.... Thx

Rdjr, the SIM card swap question would be one for Verizon Tech Support, as I cannot answer that one authoritatively.

However: it has been my unfortunate experience to read one user after another agonize on here about losing unlimited data forever and being dumped into tiered because they didn't do STEP 2 that I outlined.

Considering that I'm currently paying $9.99/mo unlimited on each of four lines ( :D ), there is NO WAY I am going to jeopardize my plan by skipping a step. Call Verizon or go into the store, explain that you don't want ANYTHING to change on your plan except the phone itself, and let them activate the phone for you. Maybe I'm too conservative here for my own good, but I'm not taking any chances with your unlimited data or mine.

Why would Verizon just now be getting phones when all other carriers already have at least enough to have started shipping last week?

And in other news, I was at a Target this past Saturday and saw a poster/ad in the phone department saying that Verizon SGS3s were now available for pre-order. I tried finding a sales person to ask if/when they were getting phones, but of course, they're never around when you need one. I didn't see a phone anywhere so I wondered if someone put the ad out by mistake. Would the average every day Target shopper actually pre-order a phone they couldn't even see in person?

So wait a minute. My wife and I are on a shared plan. We have the cheapest voice and text plans, which suit our needs fine. When we both had smart phones we each had a data plan. She downgraded to a feature phone recently and dropped her data plan, which now saves us $30 per month. We'll both be eligible for an upgrade after 7/20. If I upgrade to a GS3 on or after 6/28 does this mean we'll be forced into their more expensive unlimited/share everything plans, even if only one of us has a smart phone and we have no need for unlimited text and minutes?:stupid:

No, if I've read it correctly you can still have individual data plans, just not unlimited.

Inquiring minds... How the hell did you manage that?

Believe it or not, in January 2010 Verizon ran a VERY short promotion to lock in unlimited data for $9.99 a month, wiping $20 a line off the bill. I called to find out what the catch was: I had to extend my contract to January 2012 to get it. Well, I had a Motorola Droid I had purchased on Launch Day November 2009 - so my end date was November 2011. All I did was extend my contract 2 months!

Apparently it's an open-ended promo, because the last CSR who checked said it had an end date sometime in 2038. By then we'll probably be on 8G data and running around with chips in our heads instead of phones in our hands anyway.

I guess I'm one of a handful of people who locked into this and are still on it. There are a few of us here in AF, but not many. I consider myself very, very fortunate.

I am not sure I understand your post. Verizon is the only carrier still taking pre orders. AT&T, Sprint and Tmobile have stopped taking Pre orders. Once the orders were done being taken they sent the orders to Samsung to fill the order to have the phones sent. Samsung did not have enough phones. Hence the reason for the delays and the store launches. I personally dont believe Verizon has any phones yet. I was just stating I guess its possible but i doubt it. They don't know how many total orders they have until they stop taking pre orders. The way it used to work is the dates and models were a certain batch. So to make it simple those who ordered on the 6th with a 16gb are in certain batch those who ordered on the 6th with a 32 are in another batch. It is possible those who ordered on the 6th have had there ordered filled by Samsung and Samsung has the phone has confirmed its ready. This would explain the recent activity with people checking their ship dates. This does not mean your going to get the phone before the 9th, it just means Samsung has filled the order and the ball is starting to move. I hope this makes sense. This is how it works with Sprint and used to work for Verizon I know were talking about Verizon here and its a different company and some of you believe that Verizon has the phones in a warehouse for weeks before they ship the phone, but its not a very economical way to do business. I could be totally wrong but this is my best guess on whats happening out of my experience.

It does make sense. I guess I just assumed that all carriers would have ordered a certain number of phones before they even started taking pre-orders, and that pre-orders would be filled from that initial shipment. So assuming all carriers pre-ordered at or around the same time, they would all get their first shipments at or around the same time. Which would then explain the frustration with Verizon for just 'sitting' on the phones.

I heard pre orders were going to be done July 4th.

Phones on craigslist, even newer models under 1 month old, often sell for a couple hundred dollars less than retail.

I try and do everything by the book. To bad there isn't a book on this published my Verizon themselves. That would really put everyone at ease. And 10 bucks for unlimited data, wow! How you swing that one...
