[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

Yes I know but that looks horrible beyond words the screen has a pink overlay :) it has to be 2 4 and 6 for gamma. Yes, that low

That's odd. Maybe the kernel you're running (or possible app you have?) calculates the values differently...idk

Is anyone else's call/answer slider getting cut off when recieving a call?

EDIT: Whoa sorry guys I see it was discussed. Scratch that my bad

Did anyone dirty wipe for M5, coming from B34? Or did everyone do a full wipe? I know the site says to do a full wipe if you are coming from M4, but didn't see a strong voice otherwise, unless I missed it.

Whoa ok guys need your help. Just updated to Faux's 16 and the colors are WHACK. It was mentioned that they'd have to be redone, but I can't find a good setting. Anyone?

same thing happened to mine when I dirty flashed from B33 to M5 and Black Exodus. Going thru full wipe now to see if that fixes it.

I've flashed the ROM. How do I now flash gApps? I have it in my root directory but have not way of flashing it as the wipe and install from 4.0.2 to AOKP removed market and CWM...without market, I cannot download anything to flash gApps.

How do I do this?

Flash the gapps in recovery - the same place you flashed the ROM.

I flashed through CWM/ROM Manager, which is now missing. Without market, no way to redownload...

EDINevermind....went to clockworkmod.com and downloaded the apk. From there I was able to flash the Gapps which were already on my SD Card

Very new to all of this... came over from iphone on day 1 with GN... just rooted and installed b34 (btw, this makes me happy I left iphone)... Now, when I wipe/install this update, I'll have to redo everything again right (installing apps, settings, general setups stuff)?

Any way to restore settings and things when you update? I know some people are right on all updates, I can't imagine that you're doing all of this every time, or, maybe you have done it so much that you don't even notice. I am still thinking of stuff that I had previously that I haven't set up since flashing b34 yet.

On another note, absolutely loving b34, may stick for a bit. battery life has been excellent, overall very snappy.

Oh sorry ckelly33, I missed the part about you losing CWM. Glad you figured it out. I would have pointed you to re-downloading CWM, which you have done. Glad it worked out.

Orlando bull,

That's why I asked the question I did about dirty flashing. If you are able to dirty flash a ROM, usually only going from non-significant version of the SAME ROM, then you do not lose everything. So for instance, some dirty flashed from B33 to B34, so all they had to do was re-flash gapps, and they didn't lose everything else.

Now going from a significant change, say from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 we needed to do a complete wipe, which meant you lost everything. You could do things to make the setup process a bit easier. For instance, using Titanium Backup to backup your apps, using SMS backup to backup all your sms messages, etc... This should cut down on the set-up time.

And just so you know a dirty flash (in CWM) is:
1) Wipe Cache
2) Under Mounts: format system
3) Under Advance: Format Dalvik Cache
4) Flash ROM
5) Flash Gapps
6) Reboot
7) Reboot back into CWM and flash any kernels, MODS, etc...

At least that is how I do it, based on the great feedback from this forum.

Hope that wasn't too long-winded of an answer...

EDIT: As for mods, make sure the Theme or MOD that you want is compatible for the version you are on, for instance M5. And I would make a nandroid of a fresh install prior to installing mods/themes etc... Just my two cents...

So are there any features or bug fixes present in M5 over b34? Just curious if it'd be worth flashing M5 until b35 comes along?

ah boo. after full wipe, flash M5 and gapps, but the Market/Play doesn't restore all my apps. haven't had this problem with any AOKP up until now.

I had this happen just now. I'm new to AOKP, so I thought it might be normal. I've been stock up to this point so I figured it was something I just have to deal with. I'm used to my apps being downloaded once I log in to market.

It was a pain but I just finished getting everything back on my phone.

Good to know this isn't normal!

I had this happen when I did the following:

- b33 with gapps 0317 (was being backed up)
- clean wipe and install of b34 and gapps 0422

Upon the initial boot, it didn't restore my phone's settings nor the apps. I decided I'd try a clean install again but this time I flashed b34 with gapps 0317, let it restore the apps/settings, then flashed the 0422 gapps.

Perhaps there is something that makes backup with 0317 incompatible with a restore on 0422? Not sure...but using 0317 seemed to do the trick. Not sure why.

The folks in the AKOP irc channel recommend going to M5 if you're on b34. :)

09:44 < pfloyd> does M5 have updates or bug fixes not present in b34? Just wondering if I should go b34->m5->b35 or
just wait for b35 :)
