[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

when you get an sms you pull down the notification bar, tap on the sms, and when you try to type, nothing happens.

I have the same issue in this version. I didn't have it in B34 but I do in M5. Changing the keyboard doesn't fix, so I wonder if it's the stock sms app that isn't playing nice. Or are you running another app for sms?

I never knew holding the back button ever had that feature? Are you talking about the back button on the navbar or from within the browser itself?

When you hold the left pointing arrow on the soft buttons while in the browser it does it. It doesn't work for me after flashing M5 with a clean install. Not really a big deal since it's only two clicks to get there the other way but it was nice to have

It's a problem I haven't really had at all up until I flashed B33. I also had it a lot on my old old HTC Hero. Just had to deal with it.

my battery gets sucked down fast when it signal icon turns from blue to gray for whatever reason. put it in my pocket with 90% battery then 30 minutes later check it and im down to 82%, only happens when the darn icon switches to gray...mostly at school in the buildings I'll lose 4g and 3g is grayed out and wifi will be connected but grayed out...

franco M3 kernel btw but happens with them all tho...

Don't know what's eating your battery, but sounds like a possible rogue app to me. About the icons turning gray....did you do a titanium restore on your present setup?

full wipe and mop actually...
well the signal icons turn gray when i walk into the building (its old and all brick) and im going up the stairway/elevator I lose signal then itll come back but its gray. When i connect to wifi it gray, but upon exiting the building and getting somewhere outside or even at home i get a signal and its blue again. I thnk it may be that old solid brick building somewhat blocking and full signal somehow, idk, its just annoying cus im in lecture so much and the building is sucking my batterys life force to stay alive...smh

I see. So out of curiosity, when your connected to WIFI inside the bldg, can you open gmail, google+, google voice, google play music, stock browser? And does the WIFI icon remain gray even if you can connect to these apps?

Weird indeed.

and dont think im trying to pick at the rom because ive had this same thing happen with other roms/kernels too...
I don't think anything. Just trying to understand what your phone is doing.

You can pick, or not, all you want, or don't want. I picked so much on it I stopped running aokp. "Picking" is part of "improving" and "troubleshooting"

edit: but I'm back again on M5 and very content atm :)

The latest Gapps uses Phonsky instead of Vending now. I was flashing the wrong one and seeing no change and located a post by travp624 on the matter.

In-case I am not the last one on earth to realize this....... I'm just sayin....

Added Trebuchet Launcher link to OP and instructions to install using Root Explorer. It's vanilla, it's smooth, and it's fast! A nice alternative

i finally rooted and installed this with the latest lean kernel and 4.0.4 radios earlier. I was hoping that a few issues from my stock phone would be fixed, cant send mms while on wifi, takes FOREVER to use navigation "searching for gps" all my issues are still relevant and my signal strength isnt any better....anything im doing wrong?

Just wanted to check...you are on VZW, right?
I have been on M5 now for a couple of days..have not noticed any of the above.

Can you give us more info from your about phone? Which version of AOKP did you install and what is your current PRL version? Also, for the GPS issue, can you make sure that all 3 check boxes in the Settings - Location Services menu are checked and then try again?
Sorry for all the questions...trying to help!! Good luck

I'm on M5 with Franco M3 and the Holo MegaBlue theme. I'm noticing a few disturbing trends, I'm having trouble getting a 4G signal where I normally have no problems, and my phone doesn't seem to be syncing properly. I woke up this morning and saw no new emails on my phone, but had about 10 new emails when I checked on my computer.

I'm not sure if this is M5, or Franco's M3 (unlikely) or the theme (most likely, but still surprising for a mature theme). Anyone else have any ideas? At this point, next step is to probably go back to just M5 for a day or two, and start adding things back in until I find the problem.

So...lots glitches with M5. Seems to be my issue with Milestones.

At first I dirty wiped from B34 w/Black Exodus to M5 w/Black Exodus, but after Google Talk wouldn't work, Google Messenger and Google Music kept crashing, I decided to do a full wipe.

Full wiped to M5 without Black Exodus this time. My biggest issue is that my apps don't automatically sync to through the market. I have to install one by one through TiBu. This sucks.

So I wiped and only installed M5. And as of this morning, my phone wouldn't ring, I had 5 new emails but my phone didnt show notifications. I realized that Gmail sync was turned off in accounts by default. After turning it back on, it still wouldn't sync or ring until I did a battery pull.

So sync and ringing is back, but the notification led wouldn't light up when I did receive a notification. After another battery pull, it seems to come back selectively.

Backup and restore was not checked off in my system menu. After checking everything off, hoping this corrects the market backup issues, the box in the middle on the back up /restore menu says "no account is currently storing backed up data".

Is this normal, I never had this issue before with account and apps being backed up.

My connectivity is crap today. It kept falling out of 3g, and wouldn't lock on 4g. After a reboot 4g was back.

Seriously these many issues after full wipe. I might back going back to B28.

Ohh, can anyone tell me why some of these themes keeps changing my network from Verizon Wireless to T-CDMA 64. Is it because the themes are designed off maguro rooms?

Thanks...

I had the same notification issue, guess Gmail sync being off in accounts/sync was the culprit.

Turn back on and restart the phone.

About the 4G signal. Mine will vary from day to day albeit only slightly. I think we can attribute that to the actual network at times. Are you on the same radios you've always been on and if so, have you never had any 4G connectivity issues?

Gapps, that you flashed after you flashed M5 does NOT contain Gmail. So you probably downloaded it from Google Play right? Or did you restore it with Titanium? If you downloaded it from Play, go into your "accounts" and check the box next to gmail to sync it. It's does not check it automatically. If you restored it I'd remove it and reinstall it through Play.

It's interesting because as of 2 AM last night in the bug tracker forum there was only TWO posts referring to M5 and confirmed bugs. Out of all the people running M5 I find that to be amazing.

TiBu pro lets you do a batch restore so you don't have to do them 1 by 1. I bought it way back when it was cheap...it's a little more $ now, but worth it. fwiw I've never let the phone restore apps. If you have a lot then you have to re-download them all. Personally I'd rather pay for TiBu pro and it takes less than 30 seconds to restore my 21 apps. Also nice if you don't have unlimited data and don't have a wifi connection nearby as it'll use no data.

I don't know anything about the phones backup and restore features I've never used them on any of my Android phones. I've always and only used TiBu.

Maybe your connectivity issues lie in the network on this particular day. I'd give it a little time and more than "one occurrence" before drawing a reliable conclusion.

About the themes...yes you are correct.

latest version of AOKP M5, PRL:15109 and all three boxes are checked, oh ya latest version of lean too

Try the 4.0.2 radios like I stated in a previous thread of yours.

When you try to send mms on WIFI are you turning/toggling your mobile data off? If so, that doesn't jive as mobile data must be on to send mms. Make sure mobile data is on and you don't have any kind of data limit set in settings> more...

The very first initial gps lock can be significantly long after installing a new ROM. Like ryan said do you have all 3 boxes checked under "location services?" For that first GPS lock go outside with a clear view of the sky. Give it time to lock. Following locks should be almost instant outside, but might take a little more time when indoors.

So the signal bars are reporting low for you obviously. Annoying I know. But are you making phone calls and getting dropped calls? Have you been on the web or are using your data connection and losing that connection?

Also another point for some of you who are having issues/bugs/problems. Please give the stock kernel a chance when you install AOKP. Set your phone up and give it a workout to see if you have any bugs. If you do, then that is the time to troubleshoot....not after you install themes/kernels/mods. The developers reiterate time after time if people are installing mods (which include custom kernels) it's difficult to troubleshoot.

As Roman (the developer of this ROM) states: "Have you flashed a mod, a theme, or a kernel and something isn't working as intended? Think about that for a second."

interesting thing here, im running leankernel 3.4.0 exp1 and my signal indicator is blue as im sitting in 'the building' and got blue indicators and no battery drain...yayyy me so happy...

i read somewhere that when its blue the connected but still looking for a better signal and just sucks down the battery...but idk...
