[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

Tried looking at Sync settings, and sure enough, Gmail (and others) were off by default. That's the first time I've seen that, but oh well, fixed now. Seems to be working correctly. 4G signal is back now in Kendall Square as well, at this point I believe that was a network issue unrelated to everything else. If I see problems again I'll call VZW to confirm, but for now I'll let that go.

I am also curious about the "T-CDMA 64" for the network name, when using a custom theme (for me, Holo MegaBlue). Sure, it's easy enough to replace that with a custom name, I'm just curious why it isn't showing up as it should.

I'm not as concerned about changing the network name on the drop down/notification menu.

I'm concerned that changing the carrier in about phone. So even if I used the ROM setting to change it back to Verizon Wireless, it will stay on T-CDMA 64 under phone settings/about phone.

Is being on the T-Mobile T-CDMA network changing anything in my service with Verizon?

I have had 3 dropped calls in 48 hours. I had been running stock 4.0.2 and flashed the radios to 4.0.4 a week or more ago. I had no issues.

After installing this ROM I had 3 dropped calls over the past 3 days. I go from a full signal to none and drop the call.

Should I reflash the radios? This is a new problem for me and I've had the phone since release.

Try the 4.0.2 radios like I stated in a previous thread of yours.

When you try to send mms on WIFI are you turning/toggling your mobile data off? If so, that doesn't jive as mobile data must be on to send mms. Make sure mobile data is on and you don't have any kind of data limit set in settings> more...

The very first initial gps lock can be significantly long after installing a new ROM. Like ryan said do you have all 3 boxes checked under "location services?" For that first GPS lock go outside with a clear view of the sky. Give it time to lock. Following locks should be almost instant outside, but might take a little more time when indoors.

So the signal bars are reporting low for you obviously. Annoying I know. But are you making phone calls and getting dropped calls? Have you been on the web or are using your data connection and losing that connection?

when i initially flashed the rom I waited and tried out the 4.0.4 (admittedly only for an hour or so) when i saw no difference in signal strength in my house i flashed the 4.0.4 radios. as far as gps it finds my location fine, but when i try to use the Navigation on google maps it says "searching for gps" for a very long period of time until finally connecting. so far i havent had issues with dropped calls

...huh? You're not on any other carrier's network (excepting roaming), that's just the phone not properly displaying a string. It's quite impossible for the LTE GNex to talk to T-Mobile/AT&T/etc, they're all different frequencies and different protocols. AT&T's new LTE might be the same protocol, but I think it's a different frequency than VZW's.

OK. That's good to know. I googled it and it said something about T-Mobile. Glad to know it's not roaming.

I'm going to let M5 run solo for a while before I try to bring black exodus back.

Last weekend I installed b34 and Franco m3 and flashed the 4.04 radio that was out at the time. Does this new update from Verizon improve anything or should I stick with what I got?

It's easy to flash. I keep a folder on my /sdcard and have named it "radios". Inside I have named each radio package ie "4.0.2 radios", "4.0.3 radios" etc...

Try it and see if it is better for you and your phone. If you don't like the service, connectivity, signal, whatever, then flash back to the FA02 radios you're presently on.

Or like you said if you don't want to fool with it and your happy with what ya got, then

How are you liking your present setup?

running M5/latest version of lean kernel and 4.0.4 radios

are there benefits to unrooting and installing the OTA?

Don't really know yet. The newer radios are proving to be quite an improvement for some folks including moi.

There'll be a ROM out soon if you'd like to try it. I don't think it's worth going back and unrooting to try. The radios are out in a flashable .zip so you could try that and see if you get better signal which I know you mentioned earlier you had an issue with.

No problem =). I've looked, but can't find what exactly are the "changes" in the new build. Can you point me to what you read?

nothing specific just going by what trophy nuts said in the other thread about the new firmware update

depends on if someone wants to actually run stock .4 or not.

i do actually.

then i'll flash to an updated Rom once they drop.

also a lot of custom roms (most i think) don't include firmware updates.

Hey guys I've been on aokp since b28 and I've always had a 4th nav button and that button is always the search button... but with m5 when I hold the search button the voice search never comes up so I went in to set the long press on it to go to voice search but the option isn't there... it says I have it installed but it doesn't seem to work... any ideas?

I had to choose custom app then go to activities then navigate to voice search from there. Works like it used to now :)

I flashed the FCO4/FCO5 4.0.4 radios on top of the leaked 4.0.4 radios and see the hand off to be amazingly responsive.

As far as signal I see no loss for sure and need to run them more I guess.

Testing radios is tricky because using Verizon's network as a resource is not controlled or reliable. They are constantly tweaking them, and one never knows the load they are under.

I am i515.09 v FCO4/i515.FC05

Same here. Flashed just the new radios and it worked perfectly. Getting 3 solid bars of 4g instead of the 1-2 I was getting in the same spot.

I have FA02 flashed currently. To flash the new update, do I just flash it in clock recovery? Do I have to clear anything first? And where do I get this download?

So what exactly is different (besides the radio obviously) in the leaked OTA from AOSP 4.0.4-based ROMs (like AOKP)? I mean, are there any binary-only goodies in the OTA that we don't have in AOKP? And if so, how do we get them? Does AOKP incorporate some of those or are they things we have to flash separate (and each time we flash AOKP)?

well thats just it jkc this would be the OTA, the real version for verizon, so basically you want the ROMs to have the official OTA from verizon as a base instead of a leaked OTA... then it will include everything and you wouldnt have to reflash the radios/bootloader
