[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

Wheres my GPS icon in the notification bar? Every other icon shows up when enabled, wifi, 3g/46/, Bluthooth,Wifi-A, but no GPS..
The GPS works when the notification bar is swiped down and the GPS enabled to ON. It even shows up in the location settings, just no icon up top....Until.....I launch Google Maps or Navigation, then the Icon appears, top left. I like to know when its on, even if Im not using a nav program. The GPS appears to be working normally.
Any ideas?

Love this rom, waiting a week or so for the devs to see whats up with the partial leaked beta 4.0.4 from VZW

AOPK toro builkd mod 34
Kernal: 3.0.24-tuna-fauz123-014+
radios eko5/eko2

Thanks

Billld

I believe (someone correct me if I am mistaken) that is standard in ICS. GPS icon only shows when GPS is on and a program is actively trying to use it. The Wi-Fi icon only shows when there is a Wi-Fi network actually connected. When there is a wifi network available the icon shows on the left with a ? inside it.

That would be correct!

I'm on m5 and the last two.mornings I've woken up to a frozen phone anybody else having this issue?

1) What kernel are you running?
2) Have you installed any mods, themes, or apps prior to this happening?
3) Have you performed a Titanium restore?
4) Did this happen the day you flashed M5, or did it run well for a few days then randomly froze these last 2 mornings?
5) Were you plugged in charging when it happened? If so, USB or wall outlet?

Hey guys. I just rooted my phone (like 15 minutes ago) and I'm itching to get a custom ROM on it. I know I can find all the step-by-step details on AF (and other forums), but I do have a simple, general question.

I want to flash the AOKP ROM being discussed here. According to the first post in this thread, Build 34 was released 4/22, and Milestone 5 was released 4/28. Is a Milestone just a Build with a larger (or significant) update? They said on their website that on Milestone 5, they've upgraded to 4.04, in which case it would make sense to mark it with something significant (a milestone vs. a build).

I suppose my real question is whether the Milestone 5 ROM is standalone, or if I need to flash B34 (or an earlier build) first. From what I've gathered, it seems like Milestone 5 is "just another build" (albeit a major one).

Thanks in advance for any help. The Verizon GNex forum thread (and all the helpful user in it) has given me the confidence to root my first phone, and I'm looking forward to using it!

I think 32 or 33 was the first one with 4.0.4. Milestones are just builds that are especially bug free and usually don't have any awesome new features like nightly (or weekly as things slow down) builds do. They use the intermediate builds to implement new things and figure out the bugs. Milestones are meant to be a safe and stable release.

Do you guys recommend M5 over [4.0.4] Build 34/B34? I'm new to all this stuff. B34 has been working well for me except for battery life. Is MS5 better?

Edit, oops just noticed the same question was just posted. I'll stick with B34 for now.

Great, thanks a lot for the info. I guess a milestone is a good place to start for my first ROM. :D

I had been stock until about a week ago when I rooted and installed this ROM. This ROM is FANTASTIC and I am more in love with Nancy Nexus than ever before.

Now, about those dropped calls....

I did a clean wipe and install of m5 and I haven't added any mods or anything. Aokp faux kernel and yes it was plugged in to the wall every time... started happening the night I installed m5 I wiped and reflashed the last 2nights before bed and still woke up to a frozen phone. I'm going to see if liquid has the same result tonight...

Oh and I'm running the new 404 radios as well. Installed those same day I installed m5

I am recommending B34. I am seeing an unusual amount of issue traffic for a M build. Go B34.

I'm on M5. Didn't run b33-b34. b32 had bugs that affected me (posted about in the bugtracker). They persisted through 33 and 34, but have since been fixed in m5 and this milestone has been really good to me.

Sometimes one can be on a ROM that people are calling "buggy as heck", but the bugs don't affect you so it's not buggy after all

I can't get AOKP M5 to install. Coming from a stock droid, rooted/unlocked with the wugfresh utility. Wiped data/cache and now I'm in CWM recovery 5.5.0.4 and when I try to install it tells me assert failed: (getprop("ro.product.device") == "maguro" || getprop(ro.build.product")== "maguro" E:error in /sdcard/aokp_maguro_milestone-5.zip and I forgot to make a nandroid first.

Please make sure you are using the right download file version for your particar model of phone. Maguro is the code name of the GSM galaxy nexus. Is that what phone you have?
Check the list at this link before downloading, make sure you have both the ROM file specific to YOUR phone and the gapps file. Install the ROM file then gapps in recovery mode, then reboot.

Good luck

The Verizon name is toro. Look for that version.

Yeah that was the problem. I started downloading the LTE build and it was going really slow so I clicked a mirror and accidentally downloaded the GSM version. I am trying to flash back to stock with the wug utiility and then I can give it a try with the correct version. It's unnerving rebooting my phone to see nothing but a dead android with a red caution sign coming out of it's chest.

Edit: That was too easy, phone is back to stock now and working fine, going to give it a try with the toro build.

Got AOKP installed, I like it. just as smooth as the official ROM but with a lot more options. I was hoping it would fix my data issues though, after about 10 min I dropped to 3g, toggling airplane mode fixed it, this is the same thing that happened with the stock ROM. I don't know if that hardware is defective but it is disappointing, the only advantage my LG spectrum had over the nexus was it's radio, I got a strong 4g signal with 15mbps/10mbps compared to my nexus which drops out all the time and gets at best 5mbps/5mbps

Probably a stupid question....just rooted and installed this last week (B34, Milestone 5). Love it! So here's the stupid question - why does the date in the title change but nothing in the version# or changelog changes along with it?

So when I flashed M5, I figured I would give the stock kernel (faux) a shot. I'm QUITE impressed. I have always gone back to Lean Kernel, but I'm not sure. My phone seems to love the crap out of the M5 stock kernel. 😍
