[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

Hey guys. Quick question. I flashed one of the holo themes a few days ago and just decided to try out the new NexusPlus theme. However, when I go back into some of the apps (messaging for one) and it is still holo themed.

I was under the impression that flashing a new theme over an existing one would kind of "wipe out" the old one. This has been the case in the past but not this time. I wiped cache and dalvik, and tried twice with no luck. Any ideas as to what I can do to have just this one theme? I really don't want to flash the rom again as things are set up nicely now.

Thanks in advance!

As you found out, themes usually add or overwrite features, not necessarily remove them. It's best to make a nandroid before adding any theme.

Really looking forward to B35 and the theme engine!

I'm surprised I don't hear more about the use of Boot Manager around here.

I was skeptical at 1st but now swear by it.

FYI, 1st, do not bother with the trial version. It just don't work well with ICS.

Once I figured that out I can now load other ROM's without wiping my current one.

I have tried most of them out there and they all made me glad I am a AOKP user.

I loaded M5 in a slot and tried a kernel getting the green screen and ran back home to my B34 and deleted the slot.

When you 1st install it you setup your current ROM as the phone ROM. All other ROMs are slot ROMs.
After you decide to make a slot ROM the main ROM you just set it up as the phone ROM. Then delete the ROM in the slot, BAM! Done!

I havd tried BAMF, CM9, Liquid Smooth, A rooted and deodexed Version of the latest 4.0.4, all without loosing my B34 build.

Its all about try before you buy with me. To me its as essential as Rom Manager and Titanium BU. It also has the option to sync phone calls and mms between ROMs.

Cannot wait to try B35 in a slot.

I'm not sure if this is a stupid question... If it is, please don't laugh :D do y'all will cm7 themes from the market will work with this theme engine?

Looks like some people at rootzwiki have experimented a little with this with mixed results

Hey everyone, I've rooted and unlocked and decided i would try this ROM. I've downloaded the M5 version and the GAPPS and installed on the root of the phone. CWM did the honor or flashing the ROM but now i am stuck on the Pink unicorn and "Team Kang" boot up screen with no end in sight. How long should this take? :o

thanks!

Edit: Decided 10-15 minutes was a bit too long to wait for the phone to boot up. Sooo glad I had a backup!

How can you do this? This is the exact reason I thought it was pointless. But if you can move a slot ROM into your phone ROM, then it's definitely worth it.

I haven't used it at all since playing with it a month or so ago. I was under the assumption you couldn't move a slot to phone.

I'm on leankernal 3.5 exp with the lowest setting. I'll change that. Ty.

I had that problem too so I went into recovery and wiped data/factory reset, wiped cache partition, and went to advanced>wipe dalvik cache. Fixed it completely for me.

I swore by lean through b34. When I switched to M5 and flashed the new radios I fugured I would give the stock AOKP kernel a shot. The new radios and this ROM and Kernel have finally made my battery life satisfactory. Not a single random reboot or crash on M5.:burnout:

As bass posted, did you do a full wipe before flashing M5 and gapps? This is a crucial step prior to flashing a new ROM

I had that problem too so I went into recovery and wiped data/factory reset, wiped cache partition, and went to advanced>wipe dalvik cache. Fixed it completely for me.

Faux's kernel (16m/mainline) is a terrific kernel and stable is what it is all about. That is the stock kernel with M5 and it is most worthy.

So I think I am doing something wrong with Boot Manager. Not sure what is going on. Installed it, ran it, set my phone rom up. Installed Liquid as my slot 1 rom. Now I booted into the slot 1 rom just fine. Once I get everything set up in that ROM, I then went back into Boot Manager, and hit Phone ROM, and it says there isn't one installed. In fact it doesn't even show Liquid as slot 1 either. I went into astro, and what it shows as my SD card, has almost nothing on it. Went to Boot manager in Astro, and nothing under Phone ROM or Slot 1.

So I reboot to recovery, go to BootManager>PhoneRom>and install the update.zip and reboot. Now I am back into my Phone ROM, which shows AOKP as my phone ROM and Liquid as my slot rom. Have done this over and over again a couple of times.

Any ideas???

I have no clue as I don't use the app. Might try PM'ing fellow member "gapi" and ask him for advice as he uses the app and seems to really like it.

I found boot manager with ICS Gnex, so although I bought it, I gave it up.

Yep! Sure did! I am in the process of trying it again. i really want to try out this ROM. I've also been getting the dead Android with the Triangle a lot. I believe I have found the thread that points out how to fix that.
