[Verizon] Rom

@Trooper i'm running almost the same exact set up.

Redemption Rom 1.0.2 with Leankernel 1.6.0

I used No Frills Cpu Control because it is free and i wanted to make sure this was going to work out before investing in SetCPU. If you already have it then no biggie. No Frills isn't as deep as SetCPU but it allows you to select the different governors

so yeah anyways that is all i did and i get similar battery life to Binary. I really like this combo.

that is from about twenty minutes ago. That is a little bit lighter than a normal day for me but not much, which is probably a light day for most people. That is extended battery also.

What rom are you running? I am using Redemption 1.0.4 with LeanKernel 1.6.6 and so far today I am at maybe nine and a half hours and 47% battery left. Not bad, but if using the above setting you mentioned can give me some more, I may just go for it.

You're running the default profile - it's just how the kernel runs. The scaler is what you have to set in SetCPU.

Right now I'm at 14.5 hours, 2 hours screen on, and I spent about 40 minutes today performing a Wi-Fi analysis of our work network - bunch of drain with the network analyzer. 23% left.

Wait...the whole thing is kanged? I was under the impression that at least some of it was coded by the dev. Hmm... That lowers it in my opinion. However, I do still think it is borderline and not completely wrong. He is giving the non-dev community a ROM with a set of features that was not previously combined. It seems that that alone is a service, albeit not one that necessarily advances the stages of development.

Keep in mind that although it is counterproductive, no open source licenses that I know of require someone to send tweaks upstream in exchange for using the code. That would not be very open. It seems that although the dev has done nothing technically wrong (in fact, if he kept the headers and credit, he is probably technically fine), he may be doing something that goes against the community minded dev efforts that are normal practice. Hence, borderline.

Just my opinion. I can see how a dev would be annoyed if his work were just taken, but at the same time that is also the beauty of an FOSS license. The dev cannot lash out (not that any of the devs in the community would) just because they do not like the product their code is in or how it was conceived.

That sucks, I like droidtheory's roms.

So for this whole setcpu thing. Just set scaling to interactivex and that is it? There is no "save" button from what I can see.
 
I'm running Fab's 4-2 build along with the default Imoseyon 1.6.6 Kernel, it works beautifully and is easy on the battery. Does anyone know if this kernel supports InteractiveX scaling? I'm running it undervolted and controlled via SetCPU with Interactive scaling, but thought that the kernel has to be coded for interactiveX or hotplug...is this correct?

Yep. No save button. You just set it, and then if you try it for a little while and it doesn't cause any problems, you can check the "Set on Boot" checkbox.

Did that today and no problems. Though I have had some random force closes (and two reboots since I've had the phone). Its either related to sms/mms or gmail. But I think its sms/mms.

I have a feeling its lightflow. I have also read that volume+ has caused this as well. Its strange and random for sure.

The guy is, absolutely, cherry picking the stuff he thinks is most useful and putting together a ROM. So what? I just don't see the problem here. The developers are posting their code for other people to use, and he is using it, while giving them credit.

I understand that, but its' sort of an "unwritten rule" with developers that they're sharing their code to be developed further (ie: quad lock screen is now octo, etc.). CN isn't developing, he's just taking what he wants and isn't contributing anything of his own. I think if he would add something, anything (have you seen his changelogs :eek:) of his own he wouldn't be catching all this flack.
 
Do you guys think this is a decent battery life? Light use though I guess I would say for today however.

He has given himself some credit for a few things but I would like to see it as not just a kang fest. I think it is kinda shady that this is his "first" rom ever...I get a feeling he is the same dev that used to dev for the OG droid then got banned off most sites (AF included IIRC) and disappeared last year

I would be satisfied with that. Considering that if you continued to use the phone the rest of the 49% as you did the first 51% then you would probably end up with 20 hours on a charge which IMO is great.

Thanks for the feedback man. These phones are so weird as even if you use them pretty much the same on a day to day basis, battery drain varies. Yesterday I was busy and did not have as much time to play around on it as usual. I think I ended up getting around 15 hours yesterday and I think I was sitting at around 32% left. I had two hours of on screen time as well.

This is still with Redemption Rom 1.0.4 LeanKernel 1.6.6 and set to interactiveX in SetCPU.
