Root [Verizon] root ?

i am still running 4.1.1, i605VRALJB. this package is suppose to have all the files bundled together.

Hmm, I really can't speak for that site or the download. Not familiar with it myself.
I tend to trust the methods in the sticky or on XDA.

Here is a link to check out on XDA..perhaps more involved but I don't know.:

Sorry I couldn't be of much more help:(

But I will say this, just be sure you understand the root method.
And ask anything if you don't understand....like you are doing now:)

I suppose the other option would be to accept all the OTA updates, then root with the "One click" method I posted. But that is up to you.

Edit: oops..just saw your last post...lemme look:)

Edit again: looks along the same lines as my link:

hmmm, personally haven't run across that before. Not to say other haven't but....

Have you been able to put other things on the sd card?

I assume you are talking about the external card? (the removeable one)

Perhaps there is a setting on the device for encrypting the sd card that you have checked?

Otherwise, perhaps a format of the sd card? Save what you have on the card, format with a program I can link for you, then transfer contents back to the card and put it back into the phone.

thanks mike, yes it is the external card.

what is the link that you mentioned.
Well, if you want to format your card, I find that this program is the best-est, yes that's right, best-est that I have found. Of course, my opinion:)

https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

You will need a card reader because this is done on the computer.
Just remember to backup what you have on the sd card to your computer first.

And remember, again this is how I do it, unmount the card from the phone in menu/settings/storage. Then power down and remove card. I just find that is the safest way to remove the card. :)

Then do your formatting thing.

I wonder why your sd card is write only???

let me ask you this, i have clean rom down loaded to my comp, what is the best way to get it in my phone to flash it.

thanks again

thanks ill try it.

idk i have tried two different cards and its the exact same thing.

hmmm, is there a setting on your device to change the card option?
After I post this, I'll take a look at my wife's Note

let me ask you this, i have clean rom down loaded to my comp, what is the best way to get it in my phone to flash it.

thanks again

Oh, after you format the card just put the rom onto it too:)

haha i afraid to say out load what the problem was, on the sd card adapter i had the lock thing on the side in the lock postion.

this is the first time ever flashing a rom, so any help would be great.

but from what ive read

1- do a back up in twrp......... do it save it internal or external?
2-factory reset phone in twrp
3-clear cache and delvic cache
4-ive read to reset phone again???
5-install the new rom let reboot and enjoy.

if i have missed something please advise.

Oh, I must have missed that...I thought your sd card was write only when in the phone:)
Ah well, it's cool..been there, done that...no worries:)

Anyhoo, that procedure is basically it. The rom download site will tell you how also.
I personally like to backup to the external. Only because nandroid backups (that is what the backup is called) are sometimes huge and will take up alot of room. Nandroid backups are your best friend. I would keep a copy of it on your computer too.

I use TWRP also...I switched from CWM recovery...I just find TWRP more user friendly.

You can reset again as you stated in step 4. It won't hurt. The rom flash is the last thing.:)

ok went ahead and tried to flash cleanrom v3.5, and when i click to install in TWRP it says it cant open zip file.

any ideas.

Is CleanRom on the root of your SD card and not in a folder? Make sure it is in the top level. If it's not then the phone is not recognizing that it's there.
