Root [Verizon] root ?

how to tell if its on the root or in a folder on the sd card.

in twrp, click install, click external storage, and there is the file.

You can update twrp with the app goomanager.
Install the app and open it. Tap menu then hit Install OpenRecoveryScript. Tap Yes. Verify that the filename displays your device's code name and hit Yes. The file will download and your device will install the recovery automatically.

And as BC said in his link, verify the md5.

Here is another explanation of md5:

Basically you need the numbers posted on the rom download site to match the file you downloaded....if they dont match, the file is corrupt.

Doesn't happen very often for me, but it's a good thing to check.

Also, just be sure the rom you are going to flash is made for your device AND carrier.

thanks again Mike. i just updated TWRP now running 2.6.0.1

just installed and ran the MD5 and the file was incomplete on the one i was trying to install. (Cleanrom V3.5)

checked Cleanrom ACE and its complete.

so i will attempt to install it, and let you guys know how that goes.

just wanted to give you guys a heads up.

so far everything is still up and running good, no lag, no force closes or other problems.

also want to give a shout out to Bob cat and Mikestony for the useful advice.

to anyone else reading this and thinking about rooting its really not that bad at all, this is my first time rooting/unlocking anything. just be sure to read all that you can, i even watched youtube videos to help and dont be afraid to ask questions.

I run CASUAL, successfully get through to the black screen with 'install, Reboot, Etc'.
Click on install and attempt to install Liquid Smooth. Ends in a bootloop. Did this twice and once with CM.

What am I doing wrong?

So you ran casual, and got yourself rooted with a custom recovery correct?
In casual, do you recall going thru the "Flash Unsecure Aboot"?

Are you currently trying to flash a rom via recovery?

The phone was rooted. Don't know about custom recovery. When I held down 'volume down, Home and Power', it went to the download page.

Not sure.

Are you currently trying to flash a rom via recovery?

Once through casual, I clicked on install.

Thank you so much for replying.

All right, lets try this.
Lets boot into recovery by volume up/home and power button combo.
It should say either Clockwork mod or TWRP. (2 recovery names) I forget which recovery Casual installs. :)

Another question, is your phone, at this moment, non functioning?

Yes, the phone works fine.
Ok, volum +, Home, Pwr brings up CWM.
I've been doing volume -, Home, Pwr.

I'm at Android system recovery (3a) - Blue text

Not sure what you mean by "Android System Recovery (3a)" sorry, but does your recovery screen look somewhat similar to this?

Your clockworkmod recovery version may vary slightly from what is pictured.

No, Where yours shows 'Clockwork***' at the top.
Mine shows 'Android system recovery (3a).
I said previously CWM was there.
Mistake, it is not.

I took photo but don't know how to post it. Will work on it.
