Root [Verizon] Rooting Procedure...Verizon S3

My SD card will NOT click when I put it in which means if I keep pushing it then it will most likely break or get jammed or stuck. I did follow thst video over and over and over again, and my SD card still will not click. I do not know what to do at this point of time.

It doesn't click into place like the sim card does?
Are you putting it in right side up?
Perhaps later tonite I'll make a small video and upload it for you
Otherwise, if it won't click into place, your sd card slot may be borked.
But you are wise not to force anything:)

I didn't check this reply of yours until now, but earlier in the day I tried to insert the SD card without following any videos and I finally got my card inserted.

Anyway, the backups I make are through my recovery. Could you possibly tell me how to create all backups the right way? There is a backup tool that Zoandroid recommended in the other thread, and I forgot the name of that tool, but its paid. Do you have any free recommendations?

Also, on the phone under settings, could you recommend the best settings for me to use?

And forget those themes I was talking about, but could you recommend themes you think are cool, or even the one you currently use?

Well, the backup you make in recovery, is called the nandroid backup. That is like a snapshot of your phone's current state....kinda like a restore point in a computer.

Now, I believe, without searching for it, the backup tool that zoandroid suggested was probably Titanium backup. That is a little different. It will backup your apps and data.
The free version will do that. It will also backup sms/mms/wifi passwords/etc but that is with the paid version. The paid version will also allow you to batch restore your apps. The free version does not--you have to restore them one by one. Just time consuming is all.

The theme I use is the DarkHorse theme. Not all themes are universal. In other words, this DarkHorse theme I run is made for CleanRom. So, just make sure that the theme you like is made for not only your device, but for the rom you are running.

There is a link for it in my signature. My signature will appear in my first post on this page. :)

As far as settings....like what settings? Kernel settings? Screen settings? Sync settings? All devices, even though they are the same make/model, will sometimes react differently even though all settings are the same..follow? :)

Glad you got your sd card going

Thank you for that! I do follow, and all settings. So your recommended settings won't work on my S3 phone?

I'm not sure I follow on what to do to flash that DarkHorse? It said something to disable AOSP lockscreen? I'm not sure how to follow for the whole process. Pretty much I don't understand none of it.

They may, what settings do you want me to tell you?

o.k..no problem....I gotta leave work now, but I will log on later tonight and we can chit chat more, or if someone else sees this, they may be able to assist :)

Settings eh? Well, I'll start off with these.
Kernel settings...LeanKernel v.2.1
---interactiveX governer
deadline scheduler.
max frequency 1.6Ghz min--810,000Mhz.
no profiles set. stock voltages (no under/over volting)
stock systl tweaks
sd card boost set at 2048kb.
Screen setting timeout 2 minutes, auto brightness.
wifi/bt always on
Location services--Standalone GPS services box checked. VZW and Google locations services boxes unchecked.
Window/Transition/Animator scales set to 0.5x (in developer options)
USB debugging on.
Gmail set to 6 days of mail sync.
Weather app sync every 4 hours.
No social apps installed so nothing sync'd there :)

Will that help ya? :)

Yes, that will help me, but where do I find these settings at such as interactiveX because I don't see that on my phone?

Thank you!

What about no profiles set? Stock voltages?

Stock systl tweaks?

Sd card boost set at 2048kb?

How do I set those?

Here is a good guide to start out with.

SetCPU Help

Don't change too many things at once.
Start out with small changes, such as change your governor first. Then change your scheduler. See how your phone reacts to the changes. Then make other changes as you desire. Just remember do not check the "set at boot" box after your changes until you know your device can handle the changes. Otherwise, if you make a change and you check the "set at boot" box, your phone may bootloop..

Bottom line, small changes and not too many at once:)
