[Verizon] Slide2wake

I just bought the app and I am keeping it!

My power button is starting to feel soft.

Button saver!

Sent my phone into a constant boot loop on B38 which had me going back to an old nandroid. Then I decided to install B40, so I guess that was the silver lining.

Afraid to try again though.

He's working on adding more kernel compatibility. It works on most kernels but some it has weird behavior. What kernel were you using when it boot looped?

Freebie rebooted my phone on B40 with the stock kernel (not sure which one). Going to give it another shot and maybe flash a different kernel. But, making a backup first! ;):)

Edit: Loaded up the latest stable Lean kernel and it's working fine. Bought the paid version. Hoping there's some more development on it!

AN update: he updated to 1.4 (didn't realize) and people have been having issues. He mentioned in his thread that the update has some issues.

I have the "need double swipe" after the update so I went back to the free version of 1.3. Y'all that are having issues might want to try it as people are reporting bootloop issues and the double swipe issue on 1.4.

You can get the free 1.3 version here and expect an update to the 1.4 issues fairly soon from his words on xda.

I was using Franco's latest nightly. So, I must have had the update, although I was using the free version. I will back up and try your free version. I am assuming that isn't the same free one I tried.

Yea try it out and see how it does. I use Franco M4 and the 1.4 version has the double slide to turn on issue (although it's kinda cool, a security measure so you don't turn it on accidentally :p). The 1.3 version I linked above behaves normally. One slide to turn on

You on B40? No boot loops?

Yeah on B40 using 1.5 free version as of this post with Franco M4 it works perfectly no boot loops and 1 swipe needed to turn screen on. Every time. Never had any issues other than with the double swipe needed to wake on the 1.4 version.

Edit: let me redact that. 1.3 is the most solid build on my setup. 1 swipe works perfectly everytime. 1.5 version will sometimes take 2 swipes. 1.4 always takes 2 swipes for those that want that safety feature even though it isn't meant to act this way. My experience is on aokp b37 and b40 with franco M4. 1.3 in my above post is what you'll want to run if you have this setup

A tip to those having issues. When flashing a new kernel, after doing so, delete/uninstall the pgm slide2wake app and reboot. Reinstall. Also when going from one version to the next do the same.

wouldn't this adversely affect battery life?

i.e. the phone would have to keep the touch screen "active" to monitor for the wake command?

I haven't noticed any effect on batt life at all. He made a post about it on his website which made sense to me, but who knows.

You would think so, but all reports point to that not being the case.

I've been using it for a couple days and love it, took a little while to get used to waking the phone without punching a button, but now its natural. Also added having the phone go to sleep by long pressing the back softkey so now I really never have to use the buttons.

I know people say 'how hard is it to push a button?' but it really is convenient and I like it more to extend the life of the buttons which always seem to be the first thing to go on any phone.

The convenience, for my uses, has been a pleasant experience. So often I have my phone laying down on it's back (on my desk, on the couch, and sometimes in my car in a cup holder) and gliding me finger across the screen to wake is nice to check the time and weather without having to grab my phone and push a button. I haven't tried 1.5 yet, but 1.3 is flawless so I'm staying there atm :)

This is working great on JB! It does disable the screen off animation, but he's already working on it. Using free version on jelly belly v1.6

edit: works just as well on 1.8 jelly belly

Does this play nice with Widgetlocker? I already have it set for the volume buttons to activate screen on but more options are nice.

Ah, finally got around to setting it back up as I just assumed it wouldn't work with JB. Actually kind of like not having the CRT effect. :)
