Dude...who cares if he is or not...he is helping people.
Who cares? I do. Or I wouldn't have taken the time to ask the question.
If I'm going to trust his information and knowledge, I'd like some kind of proof that he knows what he's talking about. Anybody that's a good BS'er and with a source to the internet can "claim" to be something they're not.

Can you shed some light on the issue of Droid not playing nice with Yahoo POP accounts? Immediately after I finally got my account synched on the device, I started getting "ghost" notifications (i.e., notifications of new emails but no new emails actually received), while previously read emails appeared as unread. It seems like Verizon really wants folks to convert to Gmail, and I'd rather not. This is happening even after the 2.0.1 update. Any info/workaround would be greatly appreciated.
I don't even know what 420 means.
Anyway, can someone help me figure out how to set up WiFi on my Droid? I have it turned off at the moment but when it was on, I would get notifications of WiFi access (Linksys). Someone mentioned that Verizon blocks some features but I don't see how that's true. I get a notification for "Emily1" but access is locked. My 3G coverage is great. I'm just wondering if WiFi isn't available in my house.
Wifi works with any router that is "open" to the public, or "your own personal WiFi router", Verizon has not disabled Wifi. Are you saying that not sure if you have a router in your house? Is "Emily1" your SSID name or a neighbor's?
No, I don't have an SSID name. I didn't buy a router. I enabled wifi earlier. I'm connected to Lynksys but the signal is poor. I was prompted to enter a network.
I'm not sure I understand your issue. Are you asking the following questions:
1. Did Verizon do something to limit WiFi access?
2. How to connect to available WiFi network "in general"?
3. How to connect to a "specific" WiFi network?
Your saying you're connected to "Linksys" but the signal is poor. Do you know who's network that is, and do you know if you are even allowed on it?
There are several threads about how to get Yahoo working on the Droid, both here on this forum, and the internet. Its a known issue, but I believe that a workaround has been discovered.
"WiFi" access is usually limited to a personal router for the home, or at a business. Its not a term to used access for a large geographical area. If you're at home, and "seeing" a network name (Emily1), then its a personal router at one of your neighbors. If you are connecting to it, and they don't know about it, you shouldn't, as it most likely wasn't meant for you.
In order to access a WiFi network, again either a wireless router in your home connected to some internet provider, or at a hot spot at some business (e.g. a local coffee shop, or hotel), you usually need (3) pieces of information.
1. SSID - name of the network
2. Type of security used - WEP, WPA, WPA2 (if security is enabled)
3. Security Key - password or passphrase (again if security is enabled)
Even if you have all (3) pieces of info, if the router is using MAC address filtering, you need to be on the router's "list" in order to connect.
Hope that helped.
Where is this "workaround" you speak of? I have been looking everywhere for some type of update.
And please do not point me to the....manual email setup with the imap.mail.yahoo.com config, cause that does not work. Or at least I have not been able to get it to work.
1. I really don't believe Verizon did anything.
2. Yes.
3. Yes.
Yes, no, and no.
The Verizon Rep didn't explain any of this when I asked more than once.
Ok, here's the deal with WiFi...
If you live in a city that has "City Wide WiFi" you can get WiFi anywhere... you can also pick up a signal in airports, coffee shops and other "WiFi Hotspots"... using WiFi in your house, when you don't own a Wireless Router yourself, is kinda illegal. Connecting to "Emily1" will just cause Emily to get pissed off, and likely get you messed with if she has any tech savvy... naming her wireless network "Emily1" would suggest otherwise, though she did have the piece of mind to set a WEP or WPA passcode on the router, which is more than most people know how to do.
As for accessing "Linksys"... just because it's an open network and didn't require a password does not make it any more legal for you to leech off their internet access unless they tout their router as a "WiFi Hotspot". I hope this post didn't come off as being too harsh... your name says a lot about your skill in not only smart phones, but tech stuff in general. If you have any more questions - how to set up wifi in your house, how to set up widgets and such on your phone, feel free to start a new thread, and ask away... If you'd like suggestions on WiFi routers that you can get hooked up in your house - with corresponding internet service - I would be happy to suggest a few brands and models that would be right for your ability... or lack thereof.

Under favorites there is a list called, "Frequently called numbers". Which shows the last phone numbers you called.
My question is: How do I erase them?
Thanks
Do you feel that many problems start occurring because of the number of Apps installed on the DROID, eventually do Apps start interfering with each other, and/or not compatible which each other, causing problems with the OS of the DROID.
Did the update fix any of the email issues such as the inability to save attached documents? I've been using K-9 Mail so I can save attachments. That issue is the only reason I quit using the stock email program. I'd switch back if the problem got fixed.
Viperboy, So glad you are on the forum. I just got a replacement (BRAND NEW) droid right before my 30 days cuz my original had a very loose screen. Anyway now my new one is great except for a problem I discuss in another thread. Link is posted so as not to clutter up this forum. Will you hit me back with your thoughts? Is this a common issue? Should I live with it? Thanks in advance bro!

Hey Viperboy,
I have a contract question. I currently have a family plan and would like to add my mom to my plan, she currently is in a VZW contract, she is elig for her NE2, but her contract is not up till April. Can I switch her account to mine without an ETF?
Thanks,
Welcome to the forum. Would you be able to shed any insight into this issue (link below):
http://androidforums.com/motorola-d...ix-your-3g-1x-swtiching-reception-issues.html
...basically, the Droid seems to suffer from constant signal status change. Understandably its different for everyone based on location however some people drop signal in fairly decent reception areas, or just have weaker signal, than other phones on VZ in the same area.
More importantly, would this be something that software or configuration changes could fix, or is it strictly hardware?
How do we know you're really a Verizon "tech"? How can you prove it?
Dude...who cares if he is or not...he is helping people.

If you want to be absolutely sure about who you are talking to just go into a verizon store cuz you are in the wrong place bub.
Furthermore...before you know it the real experts will emerge on this forum the way they did at crackberry's forums. They will be the ones with the post counts in the 1000's and they will gain a reputation as droid genius' lol.
Oh and if you wanna talk to a Verizon tech just call CS haha

...Welcome to the forums mang, glad to see another VZW team member, you are a CSR then? My store has just Sales reps, and CSRs. But I am in a conversion market, so I don't know if we are operating 100% the VZW way yet or not. In any event, glad I stumbled onto your thread.
I have a question, I had a cust come into the store today, and like me, they got the notification but did not do it right away..
The difference is, he is not capable of doing it manually, I actually called data tech, my thinking was that they may be able to push it out to him again, so that he could do it, but they acted like I was asking them to make it rain jelly beans or something? Know anything off the top of your head that may help here? It's the Eris, and he is having some minor issues, that I am sure the update will alleviate, but he doesn't really understand this and is likely on the verge of doing a DOA, which will get him another Eris, that will also need an update, that has already been pushed to him. You see where I am going w/ this, anyway, his only hope at this point, is to "hope" that it gets pushed to him again, but I dunno?
What do you think?

I would like to know where the heck is the bluetooth headset voice dialing?? any plans on it ever making it to the phone. Another question, how come one can't download an attachment to an email, or at least a word doc. you can view it but not save. How come animated mms messages don't play on the phone? is there a way to get sounds sent in an mms to play with the pic showing? I do like the phone but I would have to say that the advertisement is not very accurate. I can do all of these things on my blackberry and not on the droid. except for the faster browser. I really hope this is alot of major improvements coming for this phone. One last question, whats up with getting yahoo emails on the phone???
Thanks for your time and effort to helping all of us with these questions.
OK guys, a few things.
1.) I will respond to this thread often, but it might not be right away. Searching is a better option...
...I understand the WiFi thing might not have been clear, but where the conversation lead to could have been better served in a new thread.
