well the part about flashing a ROM is a moot point. A rom is a rom and flashing it is flashing it.

as for the different size backups depending on what you select in TWRP may have something to do with it. You have a couple of boxes you can check that will backup additional info where as with CWM you just do a backup and have no control over what it backs up.

also there is a checkbox that enables file compression in TWRP when making a backup.

Yeah, I did check file compression. I dunno, just seemed like 250 mb is alot, and I checked everything to be backed up. I just didn't want anything to be missing.

CWM: aokp 1.77GB/Liquid 1.72
TWRP: Uncompressed: aokp: 1.77/Liquid 1.55
Compressed TWRP: 1.2GB

Since version 4.67 Titanium Backup has the ability to restore apps and data from TWRP backups. more info here
