[Verizon] Unlocking bootloader after rooting

If I unlock the bootloader after I've rooted will I keep root or will I have to re-root?

I know I'm posting "useless" threads, but I keep coming up with them as I do research. There should be a q&a thread.

edit: I may have misunderstood the question. Are you in fact already rooted or are you starting from scratch now?

Already rooted. Bootloader still locked.

I'm not sure if you will loose root, but it will wipe the phone so a backup of what you have would be a good idea. Even if you do have to re-root the root toolkit makes both processes pretty painless.

Ahh ok. Well on the bright side though, you'll get a custom recovery now so you can just load su that way. Or with a toolkit as OTD mentioned.

I'm running Linux, so the toolkit makes no difference as it appears to be designed for windows. I should be able to just unroot, then follow the steps for unlocking and rooting. It shouldn't be to hard. Thanks all.
