[Verizon] Unlocking needed to Root?

i remember reading pre-release that unlocking would not be needed to root, but now i think it is? is this true? is there any way to root without wiping the phone?

Any root method that doesn't involve unlocking the bootloader is going to require finding some kind of exploit within the operating system.

I don't think there is much effort being put forth to find an exploit right now, because there's no need - root is easy to gain out of the box.

So, nope, right now there is no other method. One may come in the future - actually, one almost certainly will come in the future - but not at the moment.

lol personally even if one does come out i'll still prefer ./adb-mac oem unlock

just because i've never been able to do that on my DX i feel deprived and its a joy to be able to do now.

LOL, I never thought about that...now it makes me feel warm inside after having done that about six times on the weekend after it was released, LOL .
