I'm a newbie, sorry

Can S-off be achieved using HTC DEV only? Or is the other methods being discussed here necessary?...for instance, something called sauce, etc...I'm not sure that I'm familiar with all the lingo. You guys are all experts...

Someone please answer. (even if it's just a short answer)

Verizon doesn't allow HTC to unlock bootloaders.

The best (and possibly only way) to get S-off on a Verizon M8 running the latest software update is using sunshine. The cost is $25.00 per device and you must be on a stock (or near stock) sense based ROM. See [Android][HTC S-OFF] SunShine for modern HTC devices - XDA Forum
