Vertamus Theme

KitchenPro keeps updating Vertamus's ICS theme but the last two updates have been Universal fix.zips rather than the usuall files. Flashing these as suggested gives a constant boot loop from which a restore was the only option. There is naff all on the theme section to suggest any change in these themes but a major one it is (to quote Yoda).

If it's any consolation it bootloops when installed over DlevROM v3.1 too, probably because it's partially themed. I reckon the only safe bet is a completely stock firmware, so I've just flashed and rooted KK2 to try it. I love Vertamus' Special Edition GB theme so if this is of a similar standard it will be gorgeous.

p.s. flashed KK5 first but couldn't get the b****r rooted at all!

later: well, that's two hours of my life I'll never get back. After all that trouble the darn thing won't work on a completely stock KK2 firmware - repeated fc with systemui (status bar) throwing it into a bootloop. :(

Complete wipe and reinstalled Checkrom. Think ill stick to stock with a few mods for now. Uninstalling Themes is no easy ride.

does this mean its ok to flash the updated theme version if the theme is already installed or is that what is giving you guys problems?

I'm using the ICS theme v1.6, flashed over checkrom v4 KK5. Worked fine for me.

Did you have the previous version of the theme installed? Thats where I think were going wrong. According to the XDA page it will bootloop if you have a mod and or theme already installed. I wouldnt know how youd go about uninstalling a theme in which case.

I had just wiped, reinstalled checkrom and it was the first mod i installed so maybe thats why. I wanted a clean start for siyah 2.5 you see :D

The easy option at least. Well I did like the ICS theme but may hold off for the next Checkrom release just yet. the jkay ones have been less hassle to deal with in the past so I may go that route for the time being. :)

And you go play in 2.5 while us normal folk are left with the old stuff ...go on , shoo :P

i should have read this before clicking apply in the kitchen lmao
*awaits the bootloops*

edit:
it installed over my old version without any problems.
i'm on checkrom V4 with DK 2.4.3 kernal

So to be clear... if i want ICS 1.6 theme i dont have to install 1.5 ?
I tried yesterday but had same story with bootloops...

ps. is it normal that i can`t install anything through kitchen app? i always have to do it through cwm, otherwise it won`t install.

Yeah its a problem with the siyah kernel. There are a couple of fixes, remove your external sd card or rename the clockworkmod folder on your external sd (curtesy of hawker). You'll need to change the name back after though if you want to be able to restore backups from your external.

All you need to do actually is delete the clockworkmod folder.
Of course, if you want any backups that are in there, then move them out, delete the folder, then recreate a new clockworkmod folder and move the backups back in.
This will delete a hidden file that is the crux of CWM recovery not being able to install kitchen apps.

So, best of both worlds!
:)

I know this is somewhat off topic but has this ever been something Gokhan has tried to fix or is he just playing awkward? Its not like Gadgetcheck or leomar hasn't worked with the guy.

No problem old bean. I'm just amazed that you trust us. My knowledge of Android fits on the back of a postage stamp with the Lord's Prayer behind it! :D

Good to see you active again! :)

i just flashed 1.6 directly over 1.5 with no issues. The only mod i have from checkroms kitchen though is the no increasing ringtone one. Dont know if that makes a difference or not

Same. I had the stock checkrom theme on, with the android zaps apple intro and the battery gauge mod, and that's it. Just went into CWM Recovery, made sure I took out my micro sd card of course (still haven't deleted the clockworkmod folder lol), wiped the davik cache, and it worked fine! The first boot after installing the theme took like, 5 mins though, so be patient.

This is what worked for me, I'm using Checkrom HD rom...
Was using ICS Domination v1.5 theme, wanted to update so...
1) KitchenPro->Themes->Theme Restore Package, install and apply
2) KitchenPro->Themes->ICE CREAM SANDWICH V1.6 install and apply

I haven't had a bootloop using this method, hope this helps!
