Help Video conversion for Nexus S?

Hi, I just wanted to know if anybody here knows any good, free video converting software so I can put some vids on the phone?
All my vids are .avi and stored on a harddrive.
Also, are there any specific settings you use during the conversion for best playback results on the device i.e video size etc?

There is no reason to convert there are apps that allow you to play any video format.

I use the arcmedia app.

Sorry, I don't mean to convert the format, I meant to convert the size of the video.
I don't want to put a 4gb bluray film onto the device, I was wondrering whether or not there is a program that will alow me to resize a video but keep the same quality.
The smaller video will take up much less space?

DivX has free converting tools and will work for most AVIs. It's not the fastest converter, but it's pretty simple. DivX Plus Converter ? Video converter to encode DivX & MKV | DivX.com

I haven't used it in a while, so I'm not sure what limitations the free version has. It's not particularly hard to find a product key though.
