Video conversion formats?

I'm looking to put some videos I have on my Fascinate, but don't know what the best file type to convert them to is. The program I'm using is Ffmpegx. So far I've mostly been converting .wmv files. I've been using the option to convert them to iPhone ready files, which is:

Video: x264 h264, 480x272, 450 kbps, fps, no crop
Audio: aac, 48000 Hz, 128 kbps

Most of that means nothing to me, so I don't know if that's good. I do know vids have been looking ok. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what file type I should convert to?

Also, I have other file type vids too... mov, avi, mpg... do all of these need to be converted before playing, or can I just drag them straight onto my sd card and the phone will resize as necessary?

I don't convert videos for SF.
You can put most video formats onto sd card without converting.
SF even plays mkv directly.

Yeah the SF plays just about every kinda of video format out there. So yeah I just drag and drop onto my sdcard

Some videos I've put on the sd card, .mpg files I think, have been playable, but with no audio. Any ideas?

.wmv's and .mp4's should play just fine dragged and dropped?

I have the same issue (video but no audio) with MOV files and have not found an explanation as to why.

I've tried in several video players, too.

I can only assume the SF will not play that file type. Pretty sure I converted an MOV file to another file type and still had the same problem, but can't recall. I might have to try it again and report back.
