Root [Virgin Mobile] 4.3 Speculation

Straight form VM...for what it is worth...

We regret to inform that we do not have information of any upcoming
updates for the Samsung Galaxy S III. Whenever there is an available
update all of our Customer will be notified."
 
Yeah, that was probably tech support from India. They'll never tell you any future information regarding their products.
 
I hope that is the case....
Does anyone know how to activate the WiFi hot spot on the VM S3? My phone is rooted, no custom ROM installed.

Due to the reports of problems with the 4.3 update, and Samsung pulling it from download availability, I think we might have to wait a bit for a bug free 4.3. Nice find mrg666.

You are right about the problems. But Sprint/VM didn't push the problematic MJ builds. The coming MK builds are hopefully improved.

BTW, I checked, kernel version is still 3.0.31, not 3.4 as I hoped. Positive side is that it will be quicker for me to develop the MiRaGe kernel for GS3 since I already have Samsung's 3.0.31 kernel for Galaxy Reverb done and patched up to 3.0.101.
 
i got the update this morning but im waiting to see how buggy it is before i install it

Could you please post the ZIP so I can Rip it apart and turn it into a CWM flashable ZIP? PLease?

EDIT:Returning to full stock... maybe i can get the update to download...

I think the KIES tar file would be the best to have for creating a flashable zip. Somebody had posted the captured KIES tar file for the MG2 build. Let me check if I can do the same for MK5.
 
Will you receive the update notification if your phone is rooted? For the last update (from 4.1.2 to 4.1.2 over the summer) , I did receive the notification.
 
Forget that :) The update never showed up through the phone, but I installed Kies and it updated to 4.3 through there, even with the rooted phone.

So all of the VM phones I had received updates. The most recent phone, Galaxy Reverb, was updated from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 and received one additional 4.1.2 update recently. I am definitely expecting that VM GS3 will be updated to 4.3 along with Sprint. The Sprint and VM phones have exactly the same hardware. The only difference is in the firmware and those are really minor. In the unlikely case that VM doesn't do the update, it will be really trivial to port that update to VM anyway. So people don't worry.

BTW, I have an S3 here. I am waiting for the 4.3 update to develop the MiRaGe kernel for it.

Kind of a late reply seeing as how the S3 received the update to LK5 but wanted to add the Galaxy S2 to your list of phones that have received updates (Build GB28 for example)
