Root [Virgin Mobile] Android 4.4.2 VM SPH-L710

Funny, it looks like they forgot to add "Virgin Mobile" as the carrier on the Lock Screen, and the Notification Bar.

Had a bit of trouble with Odin because Kies rewrote my drivers, but after using my shop PC all went well.

Running rooted 4.4 now!

Thanks y'all!

This is the 4.4 File, "L710VPUCNDC_L710SPTCNDC_L710VPUCNDC_HOME.tar.md5" I just tossed it in a RAR to save some bandwidth its 856 MB vs the 1.46 GB.

Thank you so much!!! You guys are awesome!! Like I've said in previous posts, this forum here really is top notch of the android community!! I have an AT&T Galaxy S5 now but still have my Virgin Mobile S3. Will be upgrading my S3 now. I don't advise anybody to get an at&t version of the S5 if you're thinking about upgrading, it has a locked bootloader and no root method yet.

Mine is also displaying "Samsung" in the notification bar, also did anyone else get a PRL update, it was 33030 now it is showing 33031...

Well my wife's changed to Samsung after one of the many reboots I had to do, somewhere between re-rooting and de-bloating her phone... so I guess it might have something to do with that.

You know, it doesn't really matter anymore since we all got the tar, but I'm still curious as to what was up with that dhd.ko file!

But I DO advise getting the Sprint/Boost/VM version of the S5 if you're planning on upgrading. It's pretty awesome, and unlocked and rootable on about 5 minutes!

At least on one of my GS3's, if someone knows of a way I can extract it (without giving away all of my personal stuff) and put it on here for the devs I would be happy to.

No such thing you can't remove its in the loaders . its a security .
I'm coming from the 4.3 knox free stock setup. I updated to 4.4.2 and the download screen doesn't say anything about knox, but has a warranty check (which is zero). I assume this means that I haven't tripped knox.

Can anyone tell me a reason not to root and trip knox? Does it actually do anything? I've had mine for 11 months, so it's not like I can do anything with the warranty anyway.
