lol yea i dont take lightly to people taking credit for things when they didnt really do anything. had he gotten the apn entries right for other carriers and proved he was at least capable of doing it himself things would have been different but just changing the mms and proxy settings which can be done by anyone with a text editor an archive manager and a quick search on google and replacing our names in the scripts is just wrong. at least say its based on our work...
Again, that was a nice catch on your part, that thread is now closed! I am going to remove his ROM's from my tutorial as well.

thank you, i know our work when i see it lol. and there is very little anyome could do to improve one this fix other than add other carriers. as far as his other work you dont have to go thru all that if they work well, in this instance it was stolen and badly modded, cant speak for his other projects they may actually be good work so i leave that to your own discretion
It's kind of all or nothing for me, plus he pushes "his" APN mod as part of the latest versions of his ROM's. While his ROM's do work, I just can't conscientiously include them in my list of ROM's in my tutorial after this.

stk is stock, i just thought it might be relevant because stk stands for sim tool kit and lte uses what is basically a built in sim, but it may or may not be. as far as pernission i cant speak for everyone but i certainly dont see a problem with it as long as proper credit is given for the fix, thats why it was shared, so everyone could have working lte and mms youre basically just saving then a step. the only reason that other guy ran into problems is because he changed the names on everything to his own and gave no credit to the original authors of anything. had he given credit to the original creators i would have probably fixed the thing for him and let him still take most of the credit for it
Whenever I get this thing RC ready, and im confident in my work, the only thing I take credit for is putting it all together and running the build lol. Ill keep u updated on my progess. Thanks

yea, you should be good. its not like we get paid for it or anything, so youre not taking anything away from us really as long as you give credit, and its not even about the credit going to us 9 times out of 10, its about respect. he showed none, you have showed the utmost
the finished product may just br a handfull of system.prop/build.prop edits and a couple of swapped out files but it is still someone elses work and it took alot more than youd think just by looking at it to get it right

update: carrier changed to Virgin Mobile, APNs built in based on mod2 and vmobi settings, tested, Hangouts MMS send/receive works, Stock messaging send works but no receive yet. This bad boy is smooth as butter so far..
update2: 3g is working but signal is unstable, havent picked up LTE yet but havent left the house either

This was a combined effort from a lot of folks here. Special thanks to junkie2100 for his guidance in this endeavor and for catching it and calling him out. Always give credit where its due, and if you miss someone apologize and correct it. Its very cool to copy any of my work. Please copy and improve on it! That's the concept of open source!! All anyone asks is some props.
Watch what you do or say on these forums. It can help or hurt your future. I'm currently in the process of switching careers (at 40+ too) from the Aviation industry to the I.T. field. With some college and a few certifications I don't expect to start much more than a Help Desk or Desktop Support. When I talk about my work with Android ROMs I'm sometimes asked what I go by on the forums. I'm MopedRyder here, and Moped_Ryder on XDA. My actions and posts here have impacted me outside these forum walls, and Im glad to say its been pretty much positive.
Last Semester coming up so I should be able to start back up with some ROMs / MODs in a few months. Thanks to everyone again.

Welcome back. That is some solid advice. You might be interested to know that your patches are working even better than they did when you left. We can send/receive on 4g with several 4.3 and 4.4 roms using patch #2 and hangouts.
When experimenting and developing this patch, did any of you ever encounter a loss of service error? Baseband and modem/network infos being Unknown and no service? I made some system.prop/apns-conf changes to my fresh build i started last night and that was my result after flashing today. I am going to revert and experiment with the changes but just curious if that has happened before
I've flashed this patch about three or four different times and I've never had that happen. The only time I've ever had that happen was when I tried flashing a different modem after I took the OTA update and got knoxed up. Anytime I would flash a modem other than mk5 (mg2, md7) I would lose service and everything would say "unknown" and when I flashed back to 4.1.2 I would not have any service on any modem.
Well I haven't had issues flashing the mod either. This is when I include the fixes in the source. I'll fool with it when I get home and see what I can come up with

When I ran it on my phone the phone crashed once but then it was fine. I dont have LTE in the area so couldn't test that. The APN settings in MOD3 are the same as MOD2 so if everything works just leave it alone and #3 not needed.

Have a question ! If I change the Csc file of a sprint touchwiz rom will it do the same thing as flashing the fix you've made or would I just screw up my phone??!?

What I'm saying is if I remove the Csc file from a sprint touchwiz rom an replace with one from a virgin mobile rom will it work like your fix or not ?!?

Looking back at my mods I did that. Still had APN issues with the MOAR mod I had. Replacing the /system/csc folder (or really just customer.xml and feature.xml) shouldn't hurt to try it.
I would suggest you stay away from you /efs folder though. The mps_code.dat file in that folder I think is also part of a csc package.

Could you clarify what you mean by 'T1 MMS fix' please? I'm not sure which fix you mean. Also if you happen to know what modem you're on that'd be helpful.
If anyone else happens to know a working combination please post as well

I ran Carbon 4.3.x for over two months straight (essentially, with a test flash here and there of other ROM's, but Carbon was my daily driver) last fall using APN Fix #2, and my modem was MG2. This was before the MK5 modem became available. No LTE in my area, so no worries there for me, just used the fix that had MMS both send and receive. Never had any problems.
On the wishful thinking side of things, Carbon just updated the user interface on their download page, I am hoping this means that official Carbon KitKat is really close. Currently using EvolveSMS and Fix #2 on the KitKat ROM's I use (CM11 and CyanFox) with no issues for MMS either way. Evolve also has the APN's built in for virtually all of the carriers in the US, including Virgin and Boost.

I always deleted the Sprint APN if it showed up, and then left the mobile setting as "Global."
